brakes sqeaking.............?

just recently... i'd say about two weeks ago. i noticed my brakes started to squeak.. whether it's slow braking or hard braking.

i have recently just put on smaller rims/tires on.... and im wondering if that could be a reason for it to start squeaking??
205/50/15... compared to the stock 185/65/15

i have aftermarket Slotted rotors w/aem brake pads.

another scenario could be that,......... i was at shannonville about three weeks ago or so... and i did work my brakes really hard... and wondering if that could be a cause for my brakes to squeak?

i guess, my main question is, what causes brakes to start squeaking????

is it b/c something is loose?

thanks.

smokedcivic has a little shameless behaviour in the past
just get them serviced, that should take the sqeaking away.

some (not all) hi-performance brakes will squeak like a TTC bus. I know because I have Hawk HP Plus and they squeak, but I don't really care cuz dayam....I can stop on a dime....

but some times they just need a bit of cleaning ....

nothing is loose....

thanks.

b/c they never squeaked before....

i just noticed it recently... so i was just wondering if it was from my extensive use of the brakes at the track or just b/c i put small rims/tires on........ or neither.

where would i look for if i wanted to do a lil' cleaning?
thanks.

Brakes squeak all the time. Apparently my brakes were serviced in April (so Honda says), and they squeal every now and then right now. It's not a problem as long as they don't squeak EVERY time you brake.

Also, if it only squeaks when you first start up the car and start driving, then it's not a problem either.

UPDATE - So I started to get a rattling sound coming from my brakes. Turns out the front brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. So squeaking is maybe an indicator that the pads are wearing down aswell?

ALSO, my front pads are now gone, after only 58,500 kilometers. Is this rare? How long before your front brake pads were replaced?

hey my car a civic 2001, and when i brake not even that hard, my car makes a sqeaky noise (kinda like the sound of a car with bald tires making a sharp turn.) but it sounds like its in the rear what do you guys think? i just got my tires off the front and my front breaks looks like they are pretty good still. so i don't know whats wrong. you guys have any solutions?

not possible for brakes to squeak in the rear.. b/c we have no brakes in the rear.
only drums.

unless you have 1.7el

if it's braking noises.. it should be coming from the front.

If that were true, my datsun would never stop because it has drum brakes all around.

Need way more info than that, but your first order of business should be inspecting those rear shoes. Negative camber shouldn't make noise like you're describing, but it will give you slightly less braking power.
