Exclamation Cat. Converter gone??

My check engine light came on last night (friday) and i thought it was the ATI sensor wasnt on all the way cause I just replaced my custom intake with an AEM SRI..

I took it to HONDA today (saturday) and the computer said it was "CATALYST DETERIORATION" .. they said they will reset it and see what happens ... well it came back on later in the afternoon... and i parked and watched the hockey game then it was gone again...

I talked with a HONDA tech and he said my CAT's probibly gone...

Engine mods.. SRI intake / exhaust with 2 1/4 piping...and 55 shot of ZEX (used 3-5 times last season) i use 94 octane in the summer and 91 in the winter

anyone have anything on this issue or have had the same problem???

what's the mileage on your car?

Its kind of early to have CATALYST DETERIORATION...I guess your cat may be defective? or may be the sensors aren't getting the actual reading...

i dont even have a cat. converter.... when i installed my header.. with the "so called" high flow cat --- which in reality, is a resonator.... the engine light came on..... but then after a few days... the engine light never came back on.

lucky me i guess..... o_O

and NO, the engine LIGHT itself did not go out. the light itself still works b/c it lights up when i start the car

I've had mine replaced @ 110,000km VicLX. Fortunately, it's warranty goes beyond typical 100,000km (130K, i believe)...

Anyway, go get replaced and your car will be much faster. No jokes. Your performance has deterriated slow over time and you just haven't noticed it.

Well I am guestimating 130K.. the dealership bitch told me but I forgot.

She was gonna charge me for them having to investigate the Check Engine light at first too because I was over 100,000km... I had to sit & argue that the Cat-Converter was the REASON why the light was on, which was a warranty covered item. Then she finally caved in..
