02 SiR Engine (K20A3)
I was wondering how much a k20a3 engine w/ecu/harness/driveshafts in other words a complete swap go for? I was planning on buying one but i don't know the going rate. Any help would be great!. Thanks.
i would say the starting rate is anywhere above $4000 cdn powertrain alone
then u have to find motor mounts (HAsport or custom made)
after all said and done it's going to be somewhere under $10,000 cdn

IMO, I don't think enough have come up for sale in the CDN market to say what the going rate it. Like if you asked for a price range on a b16a thats no problem
But I think $4000 is way too much for a k20a3. I would say maybe in the $2000-$2500 area would be reasonable, if that, assuming low mileage since they are still pretty new.

I wouldn't say more then $3000 for the engine/tranny/ECU/etc... and $2000 for the install....maybe less.
I know a guy here in town that owns a shop and will do engine swaps for $400 bux then wash your car.

for SURE you will need the mounts...atleast $1000
any mechanic who knows about how much work is involved in this swap will charge atleast $1000 for labour.
You will need an RSX catalytic converter as well. Your exhaust will need to be redone as well because of this. If you're swapping the SIR, the axles should fit on your car now. But, if you're doing the RSX swap you will need either custom axles OR RSX suspension/brakes/wheels. Think about how much that'll run you. Don't forget the SIR radiator and A/C lines as well.
people need to understand how much work is involved in swapping motors into our cars. it's not just a drop in like with older civics. unless the mechanic has the wiring diagrams, it will take a week alone just to figure out the wiring issues.
another HUGE problem is the immobilizer issue unless you have the key that matches the ECU.
my swap took MONTHS and MONTHS and MONTHS, which is why nobody saw me last summer. I only did it because i knew i would be the first in Canada. Did i mention it took months and months? Even when the car WAS running at the end of last year, i did not have A/C, power steering or a proper radiator. In the past year, i have driven my car for a total of 2 or 3 months.
Just figured i'd let everybody in on the pain and sacrifice i went through to get what i have. If you ask me would i do it again? i would really have to think hard about it. You guys probably think that the 200 horses makes my car a lot faster but i don't think thats true. I'm 100% sure its not as fast as red-vic's old turbo setup. I read Big's 1/4 times and think that it's probably really close to what my car would run. For the amount of time and money i put into it, it is not worth it.
The nice thing though is i have a great base motor with A LOT of potential. As is, its alright, but if i wanted to, i could make it hella fast. Thats only if i want to spend more money than i already have.
I'm not discouraging anybody from swapping. It does drive a lot nicer and it's good to know you're one of the EXTREMELY few civics with a 200 hp motor, but you really do have to think about it. If anybody does decide to do it, let me know and i'll try to help based on what i already know.
