Rust proofing/undercoating??
I'm going to get my car soon, and I'm just wondering should I get my rust proofing done right away?? If I should get it done, anybody got hookups??
Thanks, Phu.

Phu, it's up to you, I've had my car for 3 years (3 winters) and I have not needed to rust proof it, no rust yet, but I keep the salt off as much as I can in the winter. If you want to get it rust proofed, you can do it right away when you get the car (through the dealer) that way any rust will be warrantied. Or if you'd like you can get an oil rust proof, thats messy as hell (but they drill you car and shoot oil where the sun don't shine)
Problem with that is your dealership might NOT warranty your car if you DO get rust b/c of the hole drilling, but you should ask when you get your car what the warranty policy is. Plus it drips (you could also get the non-drip but it's not as good (so I've been told)
it's a tough decision, the oil gets all over everything, (engine bay included) so if you want mods, it can be a pain.
your call man, but I don't think you will need it.... just keep it clean! and give it a nice hand detailing in the spring!
Oh most dealership undercoat the car if you ask.

i would suggest doing an oil spray ive had mine done and i am seein rust spots on my rear quarter panels which i am not happy about ... its better to be safe then sorry keep your car clean .... i left mine for about a month with salt all over when i notced these spots i was mad
if you getting a brand new car my advice is have the dealer rustproof the car. im very happy with the dealer's rustproof compare to the oil rustproof. you get a lifetime oil change if you buy the rustproofing but you need to do all the scheduled maintenance to get the lifetime free oil change.

For you guys doing rustproofing and stuff, remember one thing....
You're not going to get a pretty engine bay.
If they do a good job, they'll be spraying in the engine bay as well, so you're going to have that brown krap all over.
I bought the dealer rustproofing and undercoating (I think?! Can't remember if that came with it), yet my engine bay is so dirty, I want to use a whole bottle of Simple Green on it... But I'm afraid of washing off all of the spray....
What to do?!
When I saw Telly's clean engine bay I was embarrassed, it's like not changing your underwear... Yuck...
Then again, I don't want to wash off the protection that I paid like $588 for!

Well when I got my car I got the undercoat and rustproofing right from the dealership, you just gotta take it in once a year so they can apply more if needed and its covered for 10 years.
And about not having a super clean engine bay because of rustproofing, Id rather have a brown rust free engine bay than a shiny one with rust holes! but thats my opinion

you can just ask them to NOT do the engine bay..
just got mine done a couple of weeks back (thru Krown in PC) for the second time and both times i asked not to do the engine bay...n/p
under the hood still looks like the day it came off the lot (which is 'portant for shows etc..)
even the manifold shield still shines
