Gauge Cluster
Hey,
Does anyone know where I can get a gauge cluster out of an 01-03 Si or LX (in Canada) to put in my DX? I have checked the salvage shops in my area but there is nothing around, and eBay have US versions only which are a little different.

The display color is different? I always thought coupes had red/orange lights, and sedans had yellow/green lights.
Check ebay. I've seen some there before. That's where I got my US version one.

I actually already bought one off ebay and had it installed in my car for a couple of days. The US ones light up white with orange needles. I loved having the tach but the mileage was screwed up on my car (it was wrong and it was in miles instead of kms). I talked to Honda canada and they said I might have warranty trouble. Also, the ABS light wouldn't go out since the DX doesn't have ABS.
So I ended up taking it out and selling it again. Pretty good though cause I got more for it on eBay than I paid for it.
I have been checking out the new auctions for gauge clusters and the seller seems to think that you can swap out the face of the new cluster with your old one to retain your mileage. I don't know if this would work with the kms-miles difference with the odometer.
What do you guys think?

Swapping the face won't do anything. The cluster speedo will still work in m/h, even if the new face is in km/h. The odomemter will be in whatever units the cluster is from. It's all computerized, so your best bet is to find a used Canada cluster somewhere and have a speedo shop flash back the original miles from your car's ECU.

Here's what the seller said when i asked him about swapping the faces:
"you would use the new one, and just swap out the middle
circle portion. You have to take your cluster apart to do
so, you have to somewhat know what your doing and be good at
messing with electronic parts."
so unless the face contains the odometer, this guy is wrong.

Get them flashed on. Most dealers won't do that though, they'd just jot the original milage on a sticker and stick in on the doorjamb or something.
But there are kits available that let the user set the km's. I wonder if any shops in GTA have them. I've seen the kits on Ebay...
