Look at the great job Mazda did on protege 5, they all come with 16 inch alloys and killer looking tires at no additional cost. I think if Honda wants to be in competition with other car producers, they shouldnt sit by and do nothing.

lease:I think 16s would be a little overkill for the lack of torque in the honda SI coupe. I mean it won't make it completely slow but I am sure it would affect performance numbers. Also they would probably need to jack up the price a bit. But the 2004 civic SI hatchbacks are coming with 16s stock.
Why would they need to jack the prices up? Mazda Protege 5 is cheaper than Civic Coupe SI and yet it comes with side skirts, wings, 16 inch alloys, 4 disc brakes etc etc all comes standard.
civics have no need to compete in products with companies like mazda
honda sells it car as a whole... economy car...
they know that with the reputation that honda has... ppl are still gonna buy their car.

its the same point when/and why honda does not lower their financing interest....... compared to like GM who has 0% financing. pretty much the same reason... 'cause honda knows they'll still sell their cars... especially the civics.
but recently.. its gotten down like to like 3 or 4%... usually, its around 7 to 9 % ... aside from the negociating with the salesperson.
Becoz Honda is HONDA. They don't have to compete with Toyota or Mazda. There's always a market for the Civic, and their main selling point now is fuel economy and ULEV.
You cant put Mazda and Toyota in the same bag, Toyota is better, just as good quality as Honda. I think.
My personal opinion is that they think that people who really care enough about the size of the rims are the type of people that will just be swapping them out for 17 or 18's.
I mean they sell so many civics that they dont want to scare off older buyers by doing 'em up too much. The market for civics to huge (old, young, male, female) there is no point in narrowing it to just one group. People who want to do there own stuff to the car can, and people who dont want a flashy car can have there's too.
IMO

But you don't see Honda's doing 1.9 for Civics and Accord, Toyota's all too ready to slap 1.9 on likes of Corolla and Camry. Be as Toyota is the largest car manufacturer in Japan, their Canadian counterpart has more trouble selling their name because their position in the market is different. In Japan, Toyota is the king of cars. In Canada, Toyota adopted the "family" car market, which is great in one hand, but when their sales expectations fall short their cars don't quite sell for themselves, so they have to resort to deals like 1.9 and such.Originally posted by IMMORTAL

haha... regardless of what rims, accessories, engine, etc a civic, or any other honda has, WE ALL KNOW u still want it lol
BTW: honda is obviously doing something right if there are crackheads like us that talk about hondas all day, and spend all our money on our rides.
