those that purchased a 2003 sedan, how much did you pay and which dealership did you buy from?

i'm interested in on-the-road prices for DX-GOP and LX models...

a coworker actually just picked up a dx w/gop for 19850 on the road, with rear mudguards, bug deflector, and tint...... if i'm not wrong he picked it up at ideal honda....

nothing too big...
looking for something cheap... she hasn't driven since she got her license (10-15 years ago) so she's not going to buy an expensive car as her first car...

her needs? drive her kid to school and back...and shopping...
needs to be safe and reliable...

i can only see the civic or corolla...
so just checking out prices... so i guess i can get a DX-GOP auto for $20 k on the road....

now to go bargain...keke

ohhh u would only get 4 door to drive kids eh? major diss to 4 door owners =(.... well i guess its kinda true, i got my 4 door thinking i would be driving my grandparents around.......

the LX sedan should be more expensive then the LX coupe, not sure why and the 2003 model isn't that great, better to get the 2002 model, i think u save more with the 2002 and the 2002 has better features, 2003 upgraded somethings but downgraded others, like seats, hand brake, and some other stuff.......

stock sedan is pretty good but the tires really really suck, i drifted a stock rental sedan into an island

Since the prices are similar...

My couson got her 2002 Civic LX Sedan Sport AT for 22K OTR at Richmond Hill Honda... its definately not a the bestest deal but they got a fairly good price on the trade in. Try looking at the Mazda Protege, fairly good pricing but in terms of reliability is questionable. The new Echo HB isnt all too bad, you should check it out (the 5DR HB).

Oh yea, at all cost, avoid Hyundai and KIA!!

When I was shopping for my vic, I also looked at:

Mazda P5 (protege hatchback)

and

Volkswagen Golf...

Although there will be brand new Golf out this year..



if she could wait, I'd go for the new golf...

the golf will have a sticker price of $20 grands + so i think it's out of her range and also the MK5 Golf have 150HP so might be a little too much for driving kids to school

yeah we looked at a golf...
would most probably get a yellow beetle if she got a vw...
but the civic is probably close to $8000 cheaper if we got one at around the $20k price tag...

yeah, i was taking in my CR-V to try to get rid of a whistling problem....
it was the OEM roof rack...jeez if it doesn't work, why make it OEM?

i think the reason was the demo echo hatch had backed up to the curb so much that its tires almost touched the rim... it looked too fragile and that's why she doesn't like it...

anyways...so i'm assuming i can get a DX-GOP auto for $20k - $21k, but also a LX-sport sedan for like $2k more? that's a huge difference...

I'll call in my cousin and find out the exact price of the LX-sport. I really like the add-ons, decent rims, nice underspoilers, and okay spoiler. It makes the civic look 10 times better than stock. Hmmm... babychai's neice is only 1 year younger than I am!!

My 2K3 Lx-sport was around 23 something on the road, but that's cause I got the full metallic trim (with the big giant civic logo on the dash) and a bunch of other accessories. Yeah the sport is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it if you factor in the leather steering wheel, leather shift know, the spoiler, the factory sunroof (which is mega $$$), the rims (Which are in high demand), and the carbon fibre trim oh and you can't for get the nicer headrests, haha.

I've went through many, many cars, and somehow, I find the 2k3 lx-sport my favourite, and it is my first 4-door car.

Great on gas, great on maintenance, great on comfort, very smooth, very practical, does not get harassed by cops at all (I mean I can speed and switch lanes like crazy and a cop won't even look twice), theives don't really care much about the car (cause it's a 4-door).

Only complaint? It's slow as SH*T! (and mine's the 5-speed, I can't imagine how the auto's feel) lol, my slowest car, but my most favourite, haha.

Hasn't driven in 10-15 years = Used car not new. Look for a used civic. Why drop all that money on a new car for someone who hasn't driven in so long and is using it for shuttleing kids and picking up groceries. Look for like a 6th gen with like 50-60,000 miles on it. I think that would much better suit her needs.
