valve cover
will i really need to clear coat my cover after i'm done with it????
I'm gunna clean er up good and primer it with good thin layers of paint.......is clear necessary????? if so what kind of clearcoat....i saw some stuff at crappy tire but it didnt say anything bout high temp.........

I used Duplicolor Metalcast (red of course) on my cover, no clearcoat. I didn't want it to get all fugged up with engine heat so I left it off. Looks good so far. Just keep the paint layers thin. I didn't need to sand btw, just used 2 coats of Duplicolor base coat before the red stuff.
02civic: nope .. there is no need to clear coat it ... unless you really want it shiny, buy some high temp clear coat (if they sell em ?)

looks sweet. did you have to prime it much. and what color was it again might have to think about that as my next DIY.

Rep Power: 368 Thanks, all I used was Duplicolor Metalcast for that anodized red look. Those pix were taken when I was lowering my car this past Feb/March (I forget exactly when).
In terms of primer, all I did was clean those parts (VERY VERY WELL, soapy water) then I masked off the A logo and lightly sprayed with two coats of Duplicolor Metalcast Ground Coat (Makes it look like brushed aluminum if you wanna know). Then after 30 minutes I sprayed with the red Metalcast, again very many very light coats. 4 hours and 8 beers later, voila!

Rep Power: 368 btw the engine bay has since been Simple-green'd and pressure washed....almost all that nasty grease is gone. I had to stop cos I cut myself rather badly on a piece of fender.....gooo...
