How fast are STI???
How fast are STI???
I was traveling down on rt. 29, near Silver Spring, and I found this silver/silver sti at a light, with no cars beside him. Anyways, I never ran an sti before and I thought that this was a good opportunity to check how i fare against it. His car seems stock and my mods are i/h/e and pulleys btw. anyways, I revved at him to see if he wants to play, and when the light turned green, I gunned it. It seems if i got the intial jump, dunno if he was racing or not, but I beat him by 3 carlength at till 80. So my conclusion was, this sti doenst live up to its hype...awd must've slowed it down
But few lights later, I managed to find it at the light, along side with the newer m3. I was behind the sti and when the light turned green, the driver launched the car like a slingshot....i was buslength behind him and never managed to catch up. anyways, how fast are sti stock? Anyone run against one? Just liked to share my experience.

STi-M3 must have been a good run. Who was ahead at the end?

I think I saw the same car/driver again on I-95 towards B-more. It was an asian driver, with a chick next to him. Are you on this board?

Ahhh... a stock Sti should run the 1/4 mile in the mid 13's and 0-60 times with a hard raunch in the high 4 low 5 second area.... Civic with those mods have NO chance what so ever..... the odd thing is, you tried and the Sti didnt and you only had 3 car lengths..... most NA Civics will have no chance.

i guess u didn't see the evo vs. m3 vid.........where the kid calls the dude in the m3 a ****** then he gets majorly own3d.
my buddy ran a 13 when his sti was stock and 700 miles on it, now he runs 12.7 with intake, manifold, not cats, catback. we have yet to see his times with his flywheel and clutch upgrades, he's gone a lil over 160 in it too.

Now now I would go as far to say an STI is as fast as an M3.. Considering the M3 has a higher top speed and loves to pull after 100mph. However they are very quick cars that a civic would never catch.
A cheapo car around the price range of a civic that can catch an STI is a SRT-4 with a stage 3 kit. They put out around 300hp the same as an STI, STI will still own them from a dig though.
Personally I think STI is the best performance car you can get for its price range right next to an evo. EVO and STI are equal in performance, just about.
