Question Moving to Baltimore...need advice from residents

Hello 7thgeners in the Baltimore DC metro area.

I will be moving to Baltimore sometime between July 1st and August 1st. I work from home but need to be in the Baltimore general area (like within 50 or so miles of it). I have been looking at places online but the problem is I don't know the area. I don't want to end up in the ghetto but I also don't need to live in the snotty rich section. I'm looking at around 500 -700 for rent and would prefer a 2 bedroom. I found a place in Halthorpe but again I don't know if that's a good area or not. Any advice or help of any kind would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe we can have a mini meet when I get there..to welcome me to the area and show me around a little.

Thanks guys,

Kris...aka...Drnknmnky13

Where will you be working? There are a lot of good places withing 50 miles, but the idea around here is to go against the traffic, not with it. Tell me where you will be working and I can try and help. Hit me up on AIM if you want.

I don't have an office that I have to be at every day. I'll be driving around to hospitals and imaging centers throughout the Baltimore / DC area. My hours are semi flexable (I need to be at the imaging centers while they are open...hospitals I can visit whenever) Basically the bulk of my driving will be going into downtown Baltimore and around the DC area. Something south of Baltimore between Baltimore and DC would seem a good idea...but I don't know for sure. How is the Halthorpe area? I found a townhouse online that seemed nice. I'll be going up in 2 weeks to look at it. I'll look for you on AIM. My screen name is : CuttinUpOnUisFUN If I don't get ahold of you just let me know what's up here. Thanks for your help.

Checking out all the above places...I'll be in town on wednesday...I'm meeting up with Robclark for the whirlwind tour. Baltimore is waaay more expensive than Pittsburgh as far as housing.

the nicer areas around b-more or balmore (maryland accent) are catonsville, owings mill....try to stay away from the east side of b-more...glen burnie is pretty nice.

if you willing to drive a lil bit more, columbia is real nice but not sure if you'll find anything in your price range w/2 bedroom... if you wanna stay in between dc and baltimore u might want to look at laurel, either pg county side or howard county side.

hope that helps
