Southern MD Real Estate Advice
Looks like my wife and I will be moving to Southern MD so I can go to school. I would prefer to stay in Maryland and probably Montgomery County. PG county is ok, but my school is on the north west corner of the beltway, near 270/rockville pike. We would probably be buying a house, probably under 200K and preferably with a garage. If anyone knows about good places to look, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Everybody and their momma is trying to get out of this county!
Property taxes are outrageous, schools (assuming you may be having little ones down the line) are corrupt, prices of homes can be extremely high (if you want a decent one.......with walls and stuff), the crime rate is soaring, the police department is corrupt.........ETC.
Montgomery County, in my opinion, is a better choice. It's a little more "richy" type area, but in the long run you'll probably be happier.
But if you want to check PG County out, the only area I would suggest is the Bowie area, where Curt and I live. It's the only decent place in the county. Everything else is ghetto as HELL!
And it's about 25-30 mins from the Rockville area.

Rep Power: 306 Im in Rockville and MC is pretty saturated so with your 200k limit its not gonna be enough. The new homes on the pike and around Shady Grove are crazy expensive. Since its a sellers market right now even the people selling their homes in this area are gonna be chargind 300 and up. My advice would be go further up like Germantown and Olney but the Rockville, Gaithersburg, Potomac area is too hot now.
