2003 corolla or 7th gen. civic
Hi guys, i'm a newbie here. I'm buying a new car within 2 weeks. my choice is either 2003 corolla s or 7th gen civic ex sedan. i really like honda, i had '97 accord, but the corolla seems nice also.I know i'm asking in civic forum, but just wanna know the props and cons of the civic, and as a civic owner, would you consider corolla too?
thanks.
thanks.

I'd say to just go drive them. They are both nice cars and are obviously good choices. Honda vs. Toyota comes down to styling and the driving experience. Toyota is blander and about as numb as it comes in the driving experience department (corolla, camry, highlander).
Honda has more road noise, firmer suspension, and just an overall more sporty and fun to drive feeling.
Drive em both and you'll see what I am talking about. Then, decide which experience you like best.

I personally think the new Corolla body style is ugly as hell, but it's a good car.... I like my Civic...just needs more power. If you get either one, don't get the auto...they are sooooo slow!!

The Corolla is BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. Nuff said.
It's numb, slow and bland... get a Civic, it may still be slow, but at least its fun to drive.

The corolla is a bit cheaper so you might want to consider that. All engines are the same for CE, LE, or S unlike Civic's 115 for DX, LX, and 127 for EX. So, you can just get a CE with options and it will cost a bit less.

I was between the same two cars and ended up choosing the civic because, frankly, the car is so much hotter than the corolla. Plus, I personally don't like the styling of the toyotas, any of them.
if you want a fun to drive car with lots of weird creaking and squeeking noises, go with the honda civic. those noises get annoying, but its nothing serious. it really lacks horsepower and torque, and modifying the new civics are pointless, since we don't get any gains off it, unlike the older civics.
get the corolla, if you want a nice and strong reliable economy car. although, you feel like a 40 year old lady in that thing, it will last you up to 10 years with not a single problem with proper oil changes, and good driving habits.

Corolla seemed to be a smoother/quieter ride, but just by a TINY bit. The one thing good about the Civic is the amount of aftermarket parts available for you. If you just want a reliable/good resale value/etc... go with the Corolla, if you're looking to have fun with your car, Civic
I actually went through this EXACT same debate just a month ago: Corolla vs. Civic.
Ended up with a 03 Civic at the end, just because I don't like how Toyota does their business. Toyota always tacks on extra packages of this and that, when you've never asked for it in the first place. Every car has a different package tacked on. You can hardly ever find a car with ALL the stuff you're looking for. Honda is straightforward. You don't want floor mats, they don't give you floor mats. Sure, the same engine in all the Corolla models are cool. But Corollas also don't come standard with power locks. Or is it power windows? I forgot which it was, but one of them power options don't come standard on Corollas. If you go look at the dealership, I betcha anything you'll find a Corolla S with leather seats and all the luxuries... but no power windows. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not driving out a 2003 and have to manually ROLL my windows down! The Civic LX and EX come standard with power locks and windows, no ifs, ands, or buts.
In the end, I guess it's your call. Like everyone said, go out, drive both, and then decide. Have fun!

I personally don't like the 4 dr civic, or the corolla, so...yeah. If I had to get one of those two, I would go with the Civic, but if you do get it, you will see it at every freaking stoplight, and every corner...So many of them...

EX modal in sedan? lol

If i aint reading wrong, your choice is a 03 corolla and a 7th gen civic "EX sedan"? EX modal in sedan? lol
my sister has a 03 corolla S auto, and i have a EX coupe auto. What i have noticed is that the corolla is a lot quiter and is accelerates smoother than the civic. The one time i raced her i beat her by 3 car lengths. if u are looking for a commuter car go with the corolla but if u want a good looking car that will be a litte more fun to drive go with a civic. Plus my sister bought her car for $700 more than my car and its butt ugly.

Coming from me...Here is my advice. I have had 4 honda's in my life, the 4th one was a 2001 Honda Civic Ex 5 Speed Coupe. I recently traded it in. I was tired of the problems that I had with that car. The build quality wasnt what I usually got from a honda product. The car rattled and creaked, the transmission grinded and popped out of gear, the front struts leaked, the idle shook, there was a rubbing noise in the trunk, & the window weather stripping leaked....
When i was planning to trade in the civic, I went to Toyota to look at the corolla, and looked at a ink blue S model corolla. I could of had this car for $15,000. This car was beautiful. It came stock with the leather wrapped steering wheels and shift ****, white faced gauges, full ground effects, and spoiler, fog lights, and sport interior. The body was made exceptionally well, much better than the civic. The engine is a 1.8 VVTI DOHC 4 cylinder....that had much better acceleration than my 5 speed civic. The interior of the car was much more comfortable than my civic also....I did not want to get up from the seats....They were very plush and very supportive....I ended up buying a used Chevrolet Prizm LSI, which is really a toyota corolla type S model....and I gotta say that this car is an excellent car too.
So i would get a toyota.

You guys must modify ur car to extremes, cause my car doesn't leak water, doesn't creak or squeak nor does it shake at idles, the inside is not quiet on the highway but it isn't a lexus so I'm not gonna complain, I got what I paid for...but in the end, the civic is a great car to drive and hella fun, the corolla, well it's a corolla...I think corollas are ugly, but that's just MO

That's where I will end my pointless post.
