Anyone ever driven a Miata?
This used car shop by my apartment has a 1993 Miata 5-Speed for $4900. It's got 89,000. I stopped by just to look at it the other day but I didn't have much time and when I was leaving the dealer said "you should come back and take it for a test drive sometime." When I sat in it, it was awesome. It was the first small sports car I'd ever sat in.
So I looked it up on edmunds.com. It's got 116 hp and 100 lb/ft of torque. Um, that's less than us
But, it only weighs 2222lbs. Aren't Miata's supposed to be legendary for their handling? I'm going to go drive it next week. I wouldn't consider buying it I don't think, but what if I did? Hehehe.
What do you guys think about Miata's in terms of performance. I heard they're chick cars.

i've driven a 1994 miata. i love it! short shifting throws and such. it's also nice a cozey in a tiny way. performance, i'm not sure...but i do know that it's a tid bit small. ok fine, it's very small. it's hard to get in the car (for me i dunno bout you).......that's all i gotta say, sorry if i couldn't help
Yes they handle very well. Also there are tons of after market mods available. Performance is decent. It was never intended to be a stoplight racer. As far as acceleration goes it feels a lot faster than it is.(but then my car is the same way sometimes). The good news is the engine has a lot more potential than the D17 (mainly due to it being out longer annd being studied more) Good luck and help that helps
My dad has a 96 Miata with some performance parts in it (koni/Eibach combo, sway bars, cat-back, cold air induction) Its built as a track car. Handles really well, a lot better than my honda, and you can throw the back end out pretty easily

I only drove one when I worked for Porsche. It was a trade in. i believe it was red with a tan top and tan interior. I think it was a 98 or a 99. It was a cool little car but I wouldnt want it for my only car.

Miatas are definitely a huge blast to drive. The shift/clutch combo puts everything in Honda's line-up to shame, except for S2K & NSX. Snick snick! It's no Camaro in terms of straight line performance, but it's got enough pep for a highly entertainting spirited drive.
As a daily driver, like all roadsters, it's a bad idea. Not in a sense that it's uncomfortable, or has a leaky roof. It just has a pathetic excuse for a trunk space, and it only has two seats, so you can only take 1 friend with you at a time. Also, if you live in a snowy area, you know how RWD cars can be in the thick of winter.

Yeah, this is a weekend car. But awesome with some suspension mods and perhaps a turbo kit but that ruins the character of the car... there is a lot out for that car. If youre into autoX style driving, hard to beat... light weight, awesome weight balance, and FR.
