Question RHD cars and the shifter?

Just out of curiousity, I have a question about RHD cars and the shifter. Now, I know that the gas, brake, and clutch are layed out in the same way, but what about the shifter? I know it is to the left of you, but do you pull the shifter towards you for 1st gear, or do you push it away from you? Like you know how you pull it towards you for 1st gear in a LHD car such as ours. This has always been a question in my mind...

Black2k2Ex is an unknown quantity at this point
im pretty sure that first gear is up and away from you. and reverse would most likely be down and toward you.

Ok yeah that would make sense, otherwise all these people doing JDM K20A swaps would have the shift pattern switched, ok...

Pattern is the same... Its a pain in the *** until you get used to it. My dad let me drive the rental car in Scotland and until you get used to pulling gears towards you, it can be a little ugly.
