Ditching the civic ...

The time has come and I'm getting rid of my civic. My friend bit me w/ the MOD bug. While I orginally bought my car for its reliability and gas mileage I want a car that I can start to really upgrade. While I know the Civic has some awesome aftermarket support I'd rather start with a better platform. I'm thinking of getting a WRX. A turbo-charged AWD car cannot be denied. I'm looking for something under 25k. I looked at the SRT-4 but I can't see myself driving it. I don't car how fast it is. Well, my question comes from what kind of car would you guys get to MOD. Like I said I'd like it to be new and under 25k. Thanks in advance.

the thing is....you want new and easily upgradedable. that pretty much leaves u with the WRX. Most manufactuers have brought out new cars (new generations) so they're isnt much aftermarket support yet.

Mazda Protege 5

Also if you get the car and start to modify it you lose all warranty when you do the Subaru WRX. My brother had Subaru put a aftermarket exhaust on his car, then exaust that they offer to you as an upgrade. When they finished the car he had to sign paperwork saying that since he has an upgraded performance vehicle that his car no longers fall under the warranty because it is modified by the owner.

Sucks if you have somethign go wrong, then you have to pay for it.

it cant void your warr, unless that part caused a issue with something, and it due to the aftermarket part, sema talks about it. as for him signing something that said he voided his warr, thats just friggn dumb, you should never sign something like that,

You can't lose with the WRX. The EVO 8 is great too...but out of the price range. Mazdaspeed Protoge.

Well at the subaru dealership on ogden ave in naperville, il that is their policy that if you don't sign this paperwork they won't install the item, the paperwork also outlines that know since your vehicle is modified the original warranty will no longer cover the car since changing one item on the car can affect the performance and durability of the entire car

That's freakin' dumb. I could understand if yer friend was getting the aftermarket part somewhere else. But since he got it at the dealership it should still be under warrenty. If that were to happen to me I'd tell them to shove it. There's a Subaru dealership in Irvine, California (I think) that sells Turbo XS stuff for the WRX. Not sure if it's under warranty or not.

As to an earlier question I'd like my car new. I just like owning a new car. I'm so damned **** with my car that I can't stand knowing it was owned by someone else. I take breaking in a car VERY seriously unlike some others. Like the dude who was racing his brand new SRT-4 after owning it like 3 days.

go for the WRX... if u can afford a few more Gs then go for the STi. go from 227hp to 300hp. i'd get the STi in a heartbeat if i had the money. but it aint gonna happen to me. im just gonna settle with a GS-R.
