ok so i go in today to get my car fixed for hail damage. They'll need the car for at least 2 weeks so i ask if i can get a rental car. Sounds fair enough right? WRONG! Unfortunately im only 20 and you need to be 21 to get a rental car. WTF is up with that! I mean come on, you can buy **** and smoke cigarettes legally, but you cant ****in drive a car. Its not like im gonna be any more mature when im 21 than i am right now. Well that's about all....just had to vent about life right now. God im gonna miss my civic post your thoughts...........

Here in Illinois they had the same rule until a couple years ago. Now as long as you are 18 and have car insurance in your name you can rent a car. When my last car was hit I rented a s-10 pick-up. That V6 had some go and boy did I dog that car.

I know that here in Canada, you need to be 25 in order to rent a car. The reason that the rental companies do this is that the insurance is cheaper for them. They have alot of cars, so they need to make it as cheap as possible. Unfortunately, that kinda screws anyone under the age, even if you are responsible enough to own a car and have insurance. Not much that you can do. I would ask the dealership if they are gonna inconvienience you that much (2-weeks is a long time to fix hail damage!) if they would give you a loaner vehicle. That might be your best bet. Because with a loaner vehicle, you're insurance is transferred to that vehicle by signing a contract at the dealer.

Are you renting a car from a car rental place? Because some might let you rent if you are under 25. but i believe that you have to put more money down, like a deposit. I get cars from my dealer all the time when I bring it in.

I work @Alamo rent a car in Ontario,CA and to rent a car you need to be at least 21and pay $25 a day,because 21 is under age in that bussiness once u hit 25 its all over!

A lot of places won't let you rent a car if you're under 25. But at least from my experiences with dealerships, they can give whomever they want one of their loaner cars. The dealership has to have at least a few beater Civics that they can loan you.

Just bjtch at them some more. Make it clear that you're unhappy and that you want some sort of loaner transportation. At the very least they'll give you a few free oil changes to quiet you down.

just have your mom get the rental car, and then have your mom give your her car, or you can take the rental car once your mom gets it for you sor to say.... thats what i do.

i had my car in for a week at honda, they wanted to replace the cats, take fuel samples n *****...well the place where the shop was(honda dealership) was about an hour away form where i go to school, hence I NEED A FUKKING CAR MAN!...so they fixed me up with a 03 accord hehe it was FUN! i put over 1000 miles on it and it had 400 when they handed its *** to me, after words it was like 1600 miles i think

I got one of those when I was on Vacation last month, it was like driving a rubberband, it seemed it took the rest of the car to catch up with the engine. I beat the crap out of that thing, when I got it it had 50 or so miles on it. After a few hundred miles on it the engine had a strange ticking to it.

They tried that bull with me when I bought my car. I got my car without leather and they said bring it back and theyll put the leather in it and ill get a rental car, then they asked me my age and I said 19 and they said no. My mom called and said if I am old enough to buy a car im old enough to get a loaner or I will take my business elsewhere. They changed there minds and i gave that 97 civic dx piece the beating of its life. I used the ebrake to turn most of the time, I did a little offroading with it, practiced my j turns and high speed manuvers it was so fun.
