Yep Toyota has been making cars for GM for a long time. The prizm is a corolla with a different body. It goes back to the whole Geo thing which was a combo of Toyota, GM, and Isuzu (or Susuki, one of them!). The vibe has a VVTi engine from Toyota. The good thing is that you get Toyota quality at a cheaper price because it is considered an american car.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pontiac never got the XR-S model of the Matrix, right?

Well there is a slight difference. Pontiac has a base (130hp) and a GT (170hp) The matrix has a base, XR, and XR-S (170hp). The base is cheaper in the Matrix but the base and XR styles both have 130hp. The 170hp engine is the engine from the Celica and the 130hp engine, i believe is from the corolla.
