Help! Can the dealer void my warranty because of this?
I had a problem trying to install my X-brace. The front drivers side control arm bushing was froze up. When I tried to unbolt it, the bushing tore up. Mind you I never did get more than 2 bolts out of the subframe.
Fast forward to today. I brought my car to the dealership to have them fix it. They are saying it is not covered under warranty due to aftermarket parts, or because I tried to take it apart myself. They are now saying that the control arm is bent as well - and I did nothing with the control arm.
Does the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protect me here? Or am I liable since I initiated taking the vehicle apart? My argument is that the bushing froze up, and that this would not have happened if it did not - therefore I should be covered under warranty. Heck that may even be why the control arm was bent.
I don't know what to do....I need advice.....

you answered your own question man, if the dealer said you voided warranty then you did. all kinds of mods can and cant void your warranty depending on the dealer.

Nope. You f*cked with the ish without knowing what you were doing and screwed it all up. Only thing you can do is take the car to another place for a second opinion on how to repair your mistake.
Thats why I take any suspension work to the pro's....engine work I can do myself, but when it comes to suspension, that is what keeps me on the road and I don't mess wit dat.

I'm not sure.
Take it to the another honda dealership to do the work.
Also; don't tell them about the x brace issue.
That is my 2 cents
It is obserd that they stated the control wasn't convered because of a simple bolt on part.
F*&^ing tight wads!

wtf?
What do you mean - without know what I was doing? I knew exactly what I was doing - removing the control arm bolt. It should not be a big task to remove 1 damn bolt, esp on a car with only 19,500 miles on it! The fact still stands that the bolt was frozen up - I say that they should at least cover the parts since they have no way to prove that I f@cked up the bolt. How can they prove that I siezed the bushing sleeve on? There is no way.....
As far as things go - I'm just mad. This 10 minute job should have not cost this mutch and taken this long. Dammit.

the dealer will never want to cover anything! never tell them anything you have done, and always deny that you were doing whatever they are accususing you of!
but since you already failed there, i guess just go to another dealer

as for opto, you're kinda screwed. If what you were doing to your car in removing that bolt was NOT considered routine maintenance, then you were going somewhere you shouldn't be according to your warranty. even if the bolt was frozen up, it doesn't matter, because you're the one that broke it. and since you removing that bolt in order to install an aftermarket part was necessary, you are not covered. You might be able to find a dealer that will fix it for you, but it's not likely.

[B]wrong. mods can only void a warranty for a part they directly affect.
