Honda does it again.

They failed to make a decently safe car... another reason why Toyota is superior to Honda.. I mean, this is Acura's flagship. The deformation of the passenger compartment greatly compromises driver survival space. Remember, this test is VERY VERY hard on the car's chassis. Only the strongest will survive hehe. The LS430 is rated the HIGHEST in Luxury cars, the RL is rated the LOWEST in luxury cars. Check out their site. www.iihs.org

Though I believe Honda did a VERY good job with the 7th gen Civic in terms of rigidity of the body. Very good offset test results

Wasn't the RL designed a looong time ago? I think I've seen the same design around for about 6 years now...

It was ONE car out of their entire lineup. I mean come on! Just because they failed doesn't mean their cars are unsafe.

the RL is old.

http://www.iihs.org/vehicle_ratings/ce/html/00031.htm

the 7thGen Civic... is one of the top safest rated car in the US. Top 5 I believe. Well, in 2001. heh. The pics are pretty neat (in a safety sense)

5 star rating all around for the Coupe with side air bag based on NHTSA.

check out the MDX,

check out any recent Hondas.

Not saying Honda is the greatest, but they are up there in the safety department.

I mean I got hit broadside at around 40-45 mph, spun 260 degree... and I walk away with a lightly scratched and bruise left arm. the side air bag saved it from breaking to pieces.

good enough for me.

but these test aren't as difficult as they were.. the standard will go up and up.. and the manufactures will have to keep improving their line ups.

you're comparing a 01 model to a 96 model, obvious there's a difference.

Toyota makes good cars too though. *shrug*

Too expensive. And I never said Toyota is my fav, I'd probably get an Audi.. just for pimp factor you know? RL a 6 yr old model huh? Okay , I'll play fair.. go check out the 94 (or 95)+ Lexus LS400, still did way better than the RL. I've been waiting for like a few years for them to test the RL, I thought it would do better. The legs on the dummy in the RL didnt fair too well.. rated only "acceptable"...

Yeah MDX did real good, I'm just saying In general, Honda's older cars were not too safe. Vigor? 2-star rating, 89 Corolla? Double five star rating ... go figure.. remember the higher the stars, the lower the chances for serious injury (according to NHTSA) or "Nitsa"... let me think of a Toy that didnt do too good... I think the previa van did bad... uhm... oh and the old 4 runner did just "ok" I think... Cars that did above and beyond? Sienna, Camry, RAV, Tacoma, Corolla, TUNDRA (especially), Lexus RX/GS/LS/IS...... honda cars that did good? MDX... Element..and Civic.. when i think of more, i'll let ya knonw... OH and Oddyssey.. which of course IS the mdx hehe.
