2003 Inline 4 5speed Accord potential?
2003 Inline 4 5speed Accord potential?
What do you think will be the performance potential for this? It seems like the focus is on the Accord V6. Will they forget about the I4?
I test drove the Spec V before I got the accord. It seemed much faster and handled better. Of course I got a great deal on the accord and it
is much nicer overall. I couldn't get the V6 though and want to bump my stats up to that of the Spec V as that seemed adequate to me. Right
now I feel a bit slow
The I4 5speed Accord coupe is
2.4 liters Inline 4
3047lbs 160hp/161tq
The Spec V is
2.5 liters Inline 4
2743 lbs. 175hp/180tq

I mean with just bolt ons. I don't want to tubocharge, supercharge or engine swap. I heard something about swapping heads/exaust with a TSX...It is a lease and I have it for 4 years. I want things that are relatively cheap and undoable.
Not sure how well the Accord I4 responds to bolt-ons.. give it a few months and see what's out and what the performance gains are. Patience is key. And if there's no bolt-ons that significantly give you a good 20whp then save the money and get the V6 six speed.

"why didn't you get the Spec-V?"
1. My credit score was too low
"go with the v6 next time. I would if I could."
2. I couldn't swing the payments since I am tring to fix #1
I just want to incrementally upgrade when I have the money. I am stuck with the car for 4 years in a lease so I can't upgrade to a v6 or get out of the lease without killing myslef in costs. Upgrades are the only way!

North Olmsted, huh? Nice to see more Northeastern Ohioans on here.
As for the engine, I'm not sure if any performance parts are out for it yet. Just like the 7th gen civic in late 2000, I guess time will tell. If it's a lease, honestly you may want to just leave it alone. Short of an engine swap, forced induction, or nitrous, there's nothing you can do that will really make that car fast. However, you're probably still faster stock to stock than any 7th gen civic ;-)

Yeah, what he said
You might get shafted if you alter the car too much. You'd need about 195hp to run with the spec V just based on HP/weight...
I'd suggest just waiting until you "could" get out of the lease and then find something more to your tastes... After all, the Accord is a pretty nice car to begin with.
