H22 in a 7thGen?
No, this isn't a question of whether it is possible or not. I was just at a diner with friends and one of them is a friend of a friend. I see him all the time, but we never actually talked about cars. He drives a 2k1 civic coupe. We started talking about insurance and his was pretty high. I asked why it was so much higher than mine. He said because a different engine. I was like, "You have a D17 VTEC, how much difference can that make?" He tells me that he has a Prelude engine (H22) in his car. Of course I had to raise the BS flag:zbsflag: However, he said next time I see him he'll show me (which should be in a few days). I asked people after he left if it was BS and they told me they didn't think so. They told me his car was pretty fast. I can usually tell when people are lying about something, and he didn't seem it. So, next time I see him, I'm not really planning on seeing anything other than a D17. But, I'll bring a camera just in case. I'm still calling BS though. I don't even think it's a possible swap.

lol the insurance company wont insure you if the engine in his car is a 2002 or higher but since you said its a 2k1 and preludes were in stop of production that year then I guess, he isnt lying by so far and what I see but I think the H22 is a lot bigger engine and can prolly fit in his car it depends, he must have dished out over 10 grand for that. Guaranteed.

Of course its fake. You think the insurance Co is going to find out you put a turbo on your civic EX and charge you more in premiums? Ummm... NO.

I suppose he COULD be charged more for that engine if he took out another policy on it. If thats the case, kick him in the nuts for being stupid anyway.

Why is he using a H22??? Isnt the K20A2 (Type S engine) an all around better engine than the H22? I mean...performancewise.
If anyone is forking out for a RARE and POWERFUL engine swap, why choose an H22??? The K20A2 has newer VTEC technology which gives it higher torque and higher horsepower, and is a lot easier to get large gains from due to its power efficiency (spelling I know :P).
Hell, there's lots of companies now importing the RSX TYPE R engine straight from Japan usually to swap it into TYPE S place...but hey, if you can put a TYPE S engine in out EM bodied vehicles...why not get your hands on a TYPE R (k series) engine and get yourself a crazy *** system?
The H22 guy....he's full of it. The amount of BODY modifications he would have to do to extend the front of the car to fit the H22 engine, not to mention the change of the suspension, steering, etc etc..... that figure of $10000 would be running short.... that would cost a lot more. Doing the swap for the TYPE S would be way under $8000 (specially if you find yourself a K20A2 at a junk yard). So if you ask me, I dont believe it.... way too much money forked out for such a silly swap. For the cost of swaping that H22, he could have ordered a brand new TYPE R engine (K series) from Japan, had it installed, done intake, exhaust, put the car on some eibachs or something, got a nice powder coated paint done to the car and still have spent less money than slapping a silly a$$ H22.
Correct me if I'm wrong... and hey, if you can proof me wrong, do so cuz I'm convinced the K20A2 is superior to the H22.
Manolo.

Secondly, I'd like to see how you "custom fabricate" a way to make the H22 fit the 7th gen tranny. Ha.
Can't be done.
I suppose if I try to tell you that you can't get a battle ship in my garage, that you'd tell me there's a way to "custom fabricate" it.
