This may be a weird question... but wouldnt it waste time to take it out of gear, release clutch, tap gas, press clutch, shift into gear? Isnt it faster and easier just to step into clutch, tap gas and shift into gear at the same time, then release clutch?
I also was wondering, someone in the previous page wrote 3 different double clutch techniques.. I learned one that was pretty much for drag only, where if you come off the line and dont have enough RPM's just step into clutch and tap gas and drop clutch. And of course there is the other 1 for proper engine speed/road speed/gear speed optimisation on downshifts. I tend to use it fairly often in the snow..... engine braking really helps in the snow.[hr]

I agree with you Renamazazo. I see what you mean about shifting to 1st..... it wont let you in the gate very easily. Somehow, 1st gear is pretty easy if I really need to get into there. I usually have the clutch pedal down, and step on the gas while I push towards 1st, as soon as the gate opens, thats when I know I have about the right engine speed to match.
