breaking in period
Immedeately past the 600 mile break in period, during which i drove my car with care, it's ok to drive it more aggressively? Shorty after I passed it I drove my car hard to redline for the first time, and hopefully that didn't f**k up my car. I've been good with it since, at 900 miles ive driven it pretty hard probably 3 times, but recently i've been occasionally hifting at 5 grand when zipping around town. is it safe to say that once past the 600 mile break in, my engine has been sufficiently broken in? Yeah, im a little paranoid at the moment, it'll help to get some answers.
You will find all answers in the manual grasshopped
I don't want to be mean, but a lot of people will tell you different things...To be sure just flip through the manual, they cover the 'break in' period

TO tell u the truth.... i raced a CLK 320 the first day i got my car...
and i push my car pass 5000 rpm everyday.... and my car runs like a kitten...
I LOVE HONDA engines... (already 53000 miles, 2 years)

I didn´t break in my car either. I was told at dealer it wasn´t necessary. Not a single problem with the engine in more than 2 years.
Though I´ve read several articles that mention that if you do "break in" your engine, it will give you better gas mileage. Don´t know if it´s true.
I guess that as long as you don´t force it past redline it will be fine.

The manual says 600. I talk to the manager at the Honda dealership in my town, (5min from my house!) I go there often, he said dotn worry about it. The only thing to try to avoid is using your cruise control. I guess it has to do with the ECU, not the actual motor. But yes upon searching you will find a post I remember...They said in it to drive your car how you plan on driving it on a daily basis. I guess that's the best way to go.

Thanks for the respones. Yea, u checked out the book and it says 600 miles is the break in period. It's been 3 weeks since i got my 03 EX and i've got about 900 miles. I love driving this car, hondas are theshiztnit.
Damn... I wish I knew about this earlier. When I got my car 3 months ago, I was being really **** about breaking in my car... I never drove past 45 mph for the first 1000 miles!!! Yup, like I said... 'really ****.' I never drove it on the freeway to get to where I wanted to go. I always drove thru the highway. But I guess since I live on a little pebble in the ocean (Hawaii), it's a lot easier for me to do that bcause everything's within 5 minutes from each other (being sarcastic).
But yah, my car's running great. Once I hit past 1000 miles, I took it to the freeway and just floored it

Yeah I never took mine to red line till 2,000 miles or more since this was my first new car. But yeah the first few mths I owned my car it got a lot of driving now it hardly gets driven but oh well with these gas prices I don't go somewhere unless I have to.
