Has any seen the commercials for the new ion? I thought i saw the gauge cluster in the center of the car, and I went online and found out i was right. Does anyone else think this is the stupidest idea ever?

Rep Power: 0 I dont' know about you, but when i drive the majority of the time i spend looking forward, and its a lot shorter distance to glance down to see the gauges than to look all the way to the right.

Rep Power: 0 It is actually a good idea to have the gauge cluster in the center, so they say. They are designed so when you look at the rear view mirror the gauge cluster is in the same line of sight. It is sort of like one less thing to look at. Personally I would never own a ION. Rep Power: 0 i personally think it's seriously ugly- they're attempt to break into the import market is a serious disappointment.. the dent resistent panels feel like plastic, the design is clumsy, and the whole interior feels cheep. on another note, i do like the center gauge cluster- i love driving w/ the speed/odo centrally located because i, too, lean inward.

Rep Power: 0 That car is just flat out ugly and cheap looking. The steering wheel looks like it came off the bumper cars at Six Flags.
The center idea is just a marketing ploy and an easy way to build right and left-hand drive cars efficiently.
I don't know what those people are smoking at Saturn but it must be some damn good stuff because the sheit they are producing, you would have to be toe-up...heck, I don't know what to say...advertisements good but product a flaming, massive pile of sheit.

Rep Power: 0 It is designed this way becuase it takes less time for you eyes to focus if the guages are farther away than right in your face! I really like the idea... and the new ION Quad Coupe is awsome.... I would buy one in a second!

uh or you could have the gagues all shot up onto the windsheild like my pontic grand prix does, it puts boost information up, cd player information up, radio station info up, reves and speed your traveling at. also if the gas light comes on then it shoots that up onto the winsheild.. its freaking awsome say whatever the fawk you guys want to american cars but they were smart enough to put it on the winsheild... no import company ever thought of that and heres a pic of itl.. the pic is from the 97 model but it hasnt changed much except for it puts up alot more information now.
