easiest way to remove emblems from rear???
i read the DIY on removing the emblems, it says use a screwdriver wrapped in a towel and some "goof off" and then wax the area...
i remember someone saying something about a hairbloser and some dental floss or some waxed string?!?!!?
anyone know what i'm talking about? or have any better suggestions for both the easiest way and/or to get the best results??? thanks for your help

I just griped mine with my hands after my car was sitting out on a hot summers day and started to pry them off.. Took a bit of grunt but I got um. Try just using a heat gun and then pulling them off by hand.. But yeah, the floss stuff should work

It depends on if you care if you brake the emblem or not.
I used what is called a "spoon" Its basically a long slim strip of plastic that wont mar the paint and pryed them off. this is what a body shop typically uses.
or if you dont care if you brake them, just grab an edge an pry it off with your fingers. both ways will leave some of the double sided tape on the car, and there are several ways to take that crap off.
one way is to just rub it off with your finger (this can hurt but you dont put any cemicals on the paint)
or you could get some laquer thinner and wipe it off (this can hurt your paint if you leave it on to long.)
or you can find a can of Speedy 500 and do the same (This stuff is great, it shouldnt damage the paint and works well but it can be a bit messy)
waxing the area isnt going to do much, what you need to do is after the emblem is off, check if there is anny residue (ushally in the shape of the emblems out line) if there is some, you need to clay the area to remove it.
Just so you know the H has centering holes in it. so if you remove that one youll have holes in your deck lid.
good luck with that.
I just remembered, I dont recomend using a heat gun, you can warp the metal and damage the paint.

i used a hair dryer and some fishing line. it was fairly simple. u dont really need the hair dryer, but it helps a bit. dont use dental floss, it breaks too easy. fishing line is the best thing to use to remove the emblems.
go with the blow dryer... easiest way. use a wrapped screw driver to pry it a little and if you keep it heated it should peel right off with just your hand. i didnt use goo gone or anything. I just rubbed the rest of the glue off with my fingers.
Yeah I used a hair dryer, and dental floss and it worked great, too bad my dealer put my EX emblem on with super glue so some of the paint came off on my bumper so I had to repaint and sill have part of the upper X in super glue stuck on my bumper. since I didn't want to have to put more touch up paint on it.

I just used dental floss all by itself and they came off fine, but the floss did break quite abit. probably that fishing line is a better idea
well, when I did mine, I tried using dental floss first, and for some reason it didn't work so well, but what I tried next worked awesome....
take a towel, and then run the edge of it behind the emblem..the whole thing came off clean....best way IMHO
Hope that helps, Eric

I just did mine this past weekend using a hair dryer and my fingers. I used some rubbing alchol to get the rest of the adhesive off. The alchol did not damage the paint. Looks great.
