WTF! Do I have an Ex or an Si
I went to change my insurance to Progressive today and there computer didn't have a listing for a 2001 Civic EX?
WTF I'm thinking to myself!! All they had in there system for a two door coupe was an Si. I assured her it wasen't an Si,
but to my suprise she showed me on the registration card and it says 2001 civic Si / Cp (Coupe I guess). If it really is an Si
then it's pretty weak, and they screwed up and a put a big fat EX where the Si should be. Anybody else have this problem?!

Are you from Canada? Because the Si's in Canada is an EX here...anyways its probably just a listing, doesnt make that much of a difference...it didn't for me...umm yeah dont worry about it she probably just has a general listing of Hondas/ to double check ask her if she has a listing for SIR, because SIR in canada is the SI here just to make sure your not payin more...

The answer is simple.
They don't have EX as a model in their computers, It doesnt even matter as long as they don't charge you as having a sports car (being a DOHC that is)
Same goes for my insurance, there are so many models you expect them to have it all programed for all cars when new models/cars come out every year?
The fact stand clear that if you don't even kno what model car you are driving you MUST be a complete dumbass.

Go get a different insurance card. If not, take the insurance person out to your car and show them that it is an EX or whatever. They (the insurance company) should also be able to tell what kind of car it is by the VIN number.

What's with the attitude SLee?? When i bought the car it was wrote up as a 2001 civic EX coupe. Had insurance through GEICO and didn't have that problem, then all the sudden progressive says there isn't an EX coupe for 01 (and i would hope that an auto insurence company has EVERY friggin model, there a GD auto insurance company)
And why does the registration card say Si, that's my main question?

Canadian models do get brought into the US and if that happens then you have an si. As for being a GD insurance company, wait till you have a claim, then see if you give them props.

my papers i got from the dealer even say lx even tho i have an ex because they only ran the last few digits of the vin or something like that? anyway, it can happen, it isnt a big deal unless you are paying extra for it or something.

Regardless if it is a Cdn car he's saying the Insurance company didn't have it in there database. The insurance industry is full of incompatent mindless azzholes.

Actually the insurance company gets all the models and vehicle info from the actual companies ....so its the companies they get there info from that are azzholes....
If it says EX, it is an EX, simple as that.
If it says SI, it is an SI.
In Canada the SI means EX they just call it SI.
The insurance company has nothing to do with naming the car trim level. They can only tell you what they have in the computer. One question was asked several times and never answered, did you buy the f*****g car new? That might solve the problem.
To solve the problem for good. Does it say EX on the back of your car? Well guess what rocket scientist, it is an EX. I don't think the dealer would take the badge off and put SI, unless it is used and someone was being gay.
They put SI on the insurance card because that is all they have in the computer.
Here is an example. If you dial 411 to get a number, and you ask for Papa Johns pizza and the lady on the phonesays "I am sorry I don't have that number, but I do have John pazzon's pizzaria" That dosn't mean Papa John's changed there name or that Papa John's is realy called that. It just mean they don't have the god damn info in the computer.

I had a similar problem when I bought my car and went to get insurance. I was calling around to get quotes and was telling them I was going to be getting a 2001 Civic Si (CDN) and they said they didnt have a listing for them, all they had was EX, the reason being was they got their info from US firms so it was only showing EX and not Si, I think they have since updated this, but I am not sure.

simple solution
EX in the USA= SI in Canada
SI in the USA = SIR in Canada
there are no 4 door EX's(SI) in Canada only have the LX and DX
but Canada does have the luxury version called the Acura 1.7 EL.....which has the same engine as an EX in the states.......but looks a bit different....with differnt tail lights and head lights........it also has leather interior, heated seats, and 4 wheel disc breaks i think......

I live in MD. I also have deal through a Progressive agent. He tells me that my car is categorized as an Si. Which got me confused, so I asked him. And he said that it the Si is equivalent to the EX. I'm thinking that he means the Canadian Si, and that everything is fine. But this is getting to me. Cause I remember asking him what it means, and him saying that since my car has VTEC, its a performance car!
, fukin Progressive and their ways of thinking. I'm gonna have to go have another talk with him. I refuse to pay $369/month anymore. (BTW, today, I payed my last insurance bill, gotta renew in May, I think my rates gonna go up even though I haven't had a ticket in two years, no accidents at all)
