Ecotec is an engine that GM has been experimenting since the mid 90's in conjunction with Saab and Opel. The engine prove to be really good with lots of power at first but with a few months or a few years they started to malfunction the most common problem were with the distribuator, electrical and they would burn oil. Now the GM/Saab/Opel think that they have developed a long lasting engine.

This engine is in the Opel Speedster, the Saturn, Cavalier and I believe that Saab also has the engine in one of its line up.[hr]
