New Gas Mileage Record!

Yep, I filled up about a week ago, and my fuel light came on after 405 miles. That's frickin sweet!! I'm up to about 415 now, I think I'll run it until 425 and then fill up.

How's everyone else's mileage?

o wtf ... you only have a magnaflow exhaust done?...

hmm ... yeah, I am in the same boat with 01sohccivic ... before I would average about 350 miles before the light turned on ... now I am lucky if I get 320. The only performance mod I have is a 2.25'' custom piping with a universal fireball-style muffler ... I'm not sure which brand, but the sound is ****** amazing. I heard it was RSR, but I doubt it.

A Q: would the i/h/e combo lower the gas milage ... ?

Driving with the heat on will in no way effect mileage, the heat gets sucked from the engine itself. The fan or A/C however will cause you to lose mileage. My $.02

When I started reading posts in this thread I just knew that PESTLNC would come in and beat any and all gas mileage records. Still though, I am very impressed with BlueFlame's mileage. Not too shabby for an automatic LX.

As for my gas mileage, I know that I can get at least 400 miles to a tank, but I never let my tank run that low. I hear from people that it's not good to let your tank run that dry. Usually I fill up after 200 miles, or half a tank. Just my 2 pennies.

I averaged 42.5 mpg on an 1200 mile round trip to Indiana. That included alot of city driving in Indianapolis.... usually get around 34-35 mpg....

Edit: This was back when I had "proper" tires on and the odometer was correct....

I don't see how an automatic can get 30+ miles better than a manual ... I thought manual cars were supposed to get better gas milage.

48 mpg is insane. that's a little more than 620 miles until EMPTY. In an automatic, no less. I hardly touch the gas pedal when I drive and I use 91 octane gas always ... and I still can barely scrape up 320 without the gas light turning on (350 when I had stock exhaust). I even took out my spare tire and a bunch of **** to reduce weight.

If there is a secret, I'd like to know about it ...

-_-;;; as u can see ... me = very paranoid about gas milage.

I average about 34.7 to 35.8 mpg. It just depends on my aggression and the amount of city driving. I have documented a .5 mpg gain to 36.4 mpg when I did 2 things. I turned off the stereo and I kept the heat turned up. I drive mostly at night so I was testing to see if there is a quantifiable difference if the stereo is not used and keeping the heat on to cool the engine...

So I asked myself, is it worth it to save $0.69 a week to
1. Not listen to any music. 2. Get real sleepy from the heat

I can't live without my music and I don't care to be roasted alive.

I notice that my wifes auto LX runs at much lower rpm than my 5 speed EX at the same speed. Im at 4 grand doing 80...this seemed to suck my gas coming back from Cali.

People have said to me not to let my tank run down to the light because dirt from the tank gets sucked into the line and could clog or hurt the engine. How true is this? I would think that after doing it for a while (i let pretty much every tank run down to the light) that there wouldn't be much dirt left in the tank anyway, if there was any in the first place. Also, isn't the dirt stirred up when you drive? Just doesn't make sense to me...

Update: I hit 450 Miles .. still haven't filled up. It's getting kinda scary though, the needle is burried way below the E. I'm gonna go fill up tonight on my way to work I think. But yeah, 450 miles on one fill-up - I'm happy with that ...

Peace
