Has anyone heard about this monstorsity yet? It's coming out next year to compete with the higher end BMWs and Mecedes. It has a 414hp V12, which it will certainly need to push its own huge fat ***. (It weighs over 5,000 lbs!!!) Price range is $60,000- $90,000!!! Here's a pic.

I don't think its that bad. Its still no 5-series BMW, but I'd take one. Also, my dad's friend from a local VW dealer said VW only plans to sell like 3,000 of them the first year (worldwide.) So, I don't think its going to make or break the company. The plan is basically to test the waters.

Ahh yes. More ignorance....

A lot of luxury cars have engines with 12 cylinders. There are many reasons for this also. Do some research before you put something down.

It'll probably come out as an Audi. Is it confirmed that it's coming out?

I don't think I'd touch one for a while. Apparantly it's a twin V engine. Two V-6's side by side. How the hell they made that fit, but sounds like more to go wrong if you ask me.

Yup yup. VW's W12 engine... If I remember right, it's not actually a W. It's just two slightly offset V6's. I believe 6 of the valves cross in the midde. That was the engine isn't extremely, altough it will be kinda wide...

<YAWN> The looks really bore me... what a cure for insomnia! What a worthless investment for overpriced VWs. For that price, I would buy a Lexus or Mercedes and not be concerned with VW's poor quality and reliability.

No, thanks. Whatever VW makes, I do not want. I will keep my reliable, non-gas guzzling engine. My engine will beat this every time since a VW spends most of its time being repaired.

Oh btw, its W-12, not V-12 heh. The cyclinders are arranged in a W shape or something along those lines.

Oh come on. Whenever someone calls a Civic a rice car or something along those lines people are in an uproar. Yet then bunches of people go talking about how cars that cost twice what theirs cost are crap and always break down. Well guess what... EVERY car company has problems. Honda is not an exception. Everyone I know who owns a VW is happy with it and gets ~25mpg. And in case you were joking...

If anyone can envision how a VR6 engine is laid out, take 2 of those and put them together at the crank and you have the W12.

yeah, there's always the mercades SL600, or the BMW 850ci, those both have options for a v12. and when you bring in the mclaren, i guess i could argue the ferrari or lamborghini v12 as a normal luxary car engine, seeing as they cost about 1/4th the price of your mclaren. looks like the v12 is becomming a common engine.

ok, maybe not a common engine, but certinly more affordable, less than 100k for that vw, when before you had to spend about 150k on the benz or bmw.

that S600 must be a dream for RENNtech

those twin turbos can be upgraded as well as getting an air-to-air intercooler up front. and run that car at higher boost... i'd be scared of the 1/4 times on that car
