Normal, Vtec, whatever........they all end up being equal after honda screws them up.
By the way I now hate Terrance and Phillip, I used to think they were cool.........but not since i met you.
I doubt if you know what i'm talking abooot........lol.......
Oh, and your terrance and phillip remark was brilliant. Please come up with more comedic genius, for the rest of us to enjoy.
*edit* Also note, that I never said anything about the EP being the best car ever. I simply posted information about the car, and expressed how happy I was with it. If you consider that something to be defensive about.... then you've got an inferiority complex.

The 6th gen si is the most popular because it was a COUPE, plain and simple. Most of the people that drive si coupes are young and do not have super-chargers, turbos, or all of this other aftermarket stuff.
Looks are subjective and the same with whether one likes a hatch or not. However, the fact remains that if the 7thgen si was a coupe, it would be doing much better. How many people have you ever met in your entire f-in life that like hatches? I bet it's 0.
Oh, the si (7thgen) is not fast enough to "SMOKE" an ex or lx, or much on the street for that matter. Faster would be better word to use.

I think many of you who've test driven one, may have thought it was slow, and for good reason.
Before break-in, I was VERY dissappointed with it. It was sluggish to say the least. But once I hit about 5000k on the engine....it came alive. Night and day difference.

LOL Do you have any idea what's going on in the import scene? The most desired cars among draggers are hatchbacks. EG's and EK's to be more specific.
One of my best friends has a 2001 Si coupe (EX in the states). We've raced many times. Every time the EP has beaten it by 1 1/2 car lengths. Even when we switch cars. Care to explain?

Second, I still wouldn't call what you described as "smoke."
Lastly, you are just pissed because you drive a car that hardly anyone likes and your feelings are hurt, too bad. Life is much better when you stop trying to win others' approval.
My last post on this thread. The new si is a dud and that's that.
Yet another person on the bandwagon.
So you're saying that you've driven the new Si, and had a chance to evaluate it yourself? OR are you just regurgitating what others say? No really....I wanna know. Have you driven the car?
I've already expressed how happy I am with it. Why would I need yours, or anybody elses approval!? The car seems to take a bashing online. But whenever I'm out driving it, I've constantly got strangers telling me how sweet it looks, and asking a million questions.....whether I'm at a stoplight, or putting gas in it. So honestly...I think the new Si "hating" is prominent only online.
Anything over a cars length would be considered an easy kill.
Even if Honda sold every Si they made... they'd still be uncommon to see. Only 15,000 were brought to North America for 2002. And I suppose it depends where you are. Cause my dealership sold a shitload of them before any sat on the lot for an extended period of time.
My problem doesn't lay with people not liking the EP (everyone's entitled to an opinion). What bothers me is when people can't make an experienced opinion of their own. I swear a lot (not all, mind you) of the members in here are sheep....just following the herd. For those brave enough to express their own honest opinion....I salute you.

Believe you me , the 2002/3 Civic SiR ( u.s. SI ) is a far superior car to that of the current Civic coupe/sedan line . I dont argue the point that looks are not well received , and that this vehicle is probably 200-300 lbs over - weight but will point out that this is by far a much stiffer and rigid chassis than the coupe/sedan.
The SiR did take some time to grow on me as far as looks go , but the first initial test drive and a thorough inspection of the vehicle had me handing in the keys to my 2k1 coupe lx in a hearbeat . Absolutely no regrets .
The K20a3 , the seating/steering and general ergonomics were more enhanced than that of the 2k1 coupe. The k20 series engines are more advanced/powerful/efficient and tuner friendly than the D17 blocks. Suspension from factory , although can be improved upon , is more performance orientated than the 2k1 - 2k2 dx,lx,ex etc.
The manufacturing tolerances of the Swindown UK plant are very tight . Panel gap , fit finish , body and paint ARE in fact much better than that of my 2k1 lx coupe .
I do recognize that the 2k2 sir/si is not noted for its drop dead looks . But and a very big but , since driving this car that i purchased mid August of this year , i have had more positve comments , kudos , accolades , inquiries , "right ons " and sidewalk stares and smiles than the coupe ever had in 16 months of ownership . The Sir/Si also tends to get the attention of more mature drivers . The Sir can park amongst cars costing twice as much and even those drivers stop to peek at the Sir and make admiring comments . The coupe lx even with aftermarket rims , spoiler , body kit etc just seemed to blend in . the Tiburon , Celica , alwys drew more glances than the coupe . The sir/si raises the bar for the civic platform .
The looks i love . By far a tighter , faster and more nimble car . Yes , not a Bmw , or s2000 , or RSX-S - NOT at all . But indeed a car that is a few more wrungs up the ladder in thee performance category than the civic coupe/sedan line. As for the hatch appeal , the hatch design is having a bit of a revival here in north america , with all makes that offer it . It is still much more of a european flavour , But i will take anything european in automotive tastes than north american .

I was amazed that the dealers wanted to hear what I had to say and asked me what it would take to sell the Si's that they had on the lot.

There are already several turbos, superchargers, and ECU's in development.
In Canada the Civic Sir retails 25,500 approx. and the Acura RSX-S retails at 32,000. Sure i could of antied up a few more bucks every month but being totally honest the RSX as good as it is just doesnt light me up the way the Sir does. Yes i know , more power , leather , 6 speed etc etc . The civic SiR is what i wanted and got , i play on the track with a nicely done up Volkswagen Scirroco . I also consider what i saved on sir versus Rsx the downpayment on my boat , four winns funship 200 . .
25, ooo for the little hatch is enough . But when i look into a 32-35 000 dollar vehicle next , im steppin up to something German .

$25,500 Canadian, which is what I paid for mine, is equivalent to about $16,294 U.S.
That's what they've gone for in Canada since they came out. Cars are always cheaper to buy here for some reason.
