What happens if I'm still running my car at 4,000 miles without a new oil change? I have 4,000 miles on it since my last my oil change..but i'm afraid to go cuz they mite jack up the price.. how much is it usually for an oil change with an oil filter done at a real Honda Dealership? and how long would it take? help

Rep Power: 389 You are fine dude. You can go well into 5000 miles no problem
They aren't gonna charge you anymore. How do they know when you last changed your oil?
It only takes me 30 minutes when i take my car in.

Rep Power: 294 lol, don't worry about them jacking up the price. whether it's done at 2,000 miles or 10,000 miles, an oil change is an oil change. simply out with the old, in with the new. I take my car to jiffy lube every 3-4k miles.

Rep Power: 0 Your fine...I change mine every 5000 miles just like the manual says. btw Honda can't jack up the price because you haven't gotten on done in a while, it will be I think $80 for everything and the wait is like 30 mins.

Rep Power: 0 You're good to go dude. 5,000 miles is suggested mileage to change oil. At the Honda dealership it costs anywhere from $30 - $40 without tax depending on if you get your wipers changed, fluids replaced, routine maintenece checks, blah blah blah. Don't take your car to get your oil changed at Honda cause it's expensive and not worth it. Just go to a local auto parts store and buy an oil filter and some oil and change it yourself. Costs you about $10 - $15 depending on the oil you get. Don't go to jiffy lube or other places like that. If you got a friend who knows how to do it that's always a good source.

Rep Power: 338 Jiffy Lube isn't bad ... they don't f**k up your car like other places, afaik. Well just remember that if you have a 7th gen civic, to get 5w-20 oil!!!!!! any higher oil will decrease your gas milage

Rep Power: 0 You should NOT be changing your oil at 3000 miles, first of all you are wasting your money because you are absolutley fine going until 5000, and second your wasting goddamn oil! The 3000 mile oil change was invented so that you use more oil and get it changed more often which equals more money for oil companies and jiffy lube

Rep Power: 0 I change my engine oil every 3000-4000 miles even though I use top-grade synthetic oil (Redline or Mobil 1). Why? It may be overkill, but $20-30 to buy oil and 20 mins. of my time is a small price to pay for good preventive maintenance and peace of mind. True, I may not need to change the oil until 5000-6000 miles (I mainly do freeway driving), but there is absolutely no harm in changing your oil a little early or more frequently.

Rep Power: 0 $80????????? wtf are they doing for $80. even with synthetic oil, the extremely high!
oil change shouldnt be more than 20 or 30 dollars no matter how many miles.(unless you get synthetic)
anymore than that and you are getting ripped off. trust me on this, i own a quick lube oil change center.

Rep Power: 0 I have been getting my oil changed at the local honda dealer for about 4 years now. I always call and make an appointment as you are lucky to get in w/o one. It takes a max of an hour and the total charge is like $20.75 for and oil and filter change. That's about as cheap as it gets really. YOu get a honda filter and that all important for resale honda receipt.
