Don't EVER hit a f'ing deer at 75MPH.

I did!

I was with my friend (a girl... who's no longer my friend now) and we left my best friend's place (her boyfriend) in Pinole after I changed the oil in my car because it was getting sluggish. After the oil change... I was so happy. My car ran like new at 6500 miles. (Yeah, it's still new!) We were gonna go home cuz at the time she was living with me at the time being but then she had the idea to go somewhere cuz we have this ritual where at night we go for a drive somewhere and it had been a while since we really did this, so I suggested San Francisco. We were in the city for a while and I thought we should get back cuz I had school the next day. It was already midnight, and I had taken a freeway that just went south of San Fran. I live about 5-10 minutes from San Francisco but going south meant I had to go allllll the way down to Milpitas/San Jose to get back on the other side.

So I did... hit 880... then went on 580... and I chose to take another route. I could normally take 580 on in, but I wanted to go on highway 12 because I knew it would be deserted. It was near 3AM now. So I'm driving, goin' about 75MPH and I go left around a slight turn and out of nowhere I see a deer like 10 feet away from me and I'm like, "HOLY... !" BAM.

... hit the deer.

I downshifted and pulled my ride over as far as I could and got out and looked at the damages:

1. The left headlight is shoved in the engine bay. The headlight itself is gone. You can't even tell I cleared it.
2. The high beam on the right headlight won't go off caused by a shortage.
3. The door is scraping the bumper when I open the door.
4. The hood is f'ed up... could be a lot worse.
5. The bumper is literally torn.

I started the engine and tried to put the car over off the road further and I noticed the power steering in my car is gone! There's no way I'm driving without it.

So I needed a ride home... called mom and she seemed a bit skeptikal about picking me up until I told her the power steering was gone in my car. I had little support from my friend after hitting the deer. At that time, I was shocked. I didn't want her to leave the car but she did anyways and ran out in the middle of the road to look for the deer which was like 3/4 of a mile behind us. Her being out on the freeway could've caused ANOTHER problem and she worried me. It sucked. I knew she cared about wildlife, but I truly needed some support and her presence.

So mom came and my friend called a tow truck from the call box and 5 minutes later I heard my crash reported on an AM news radio station. Got all the stuff out of my car and later the CHP (California Highway Patrol) came.

Well, here's something you should learn about hitting deer:

NEVER say you saw the deer and/or tried to avoid it, because it will be your fault for hitting it... meaning... insurance rate hike. The deer for me came out of nowhere and I had no time to react off of it. It got the best of me.

The tow truck came and picked my car up. I took the whole backseat of my mom's Caddy and kicked back in a kew mode like there was truly nothin to worry about. Since I couldn't get support from my friend, hell... I can make myself happy. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG] My warranty is still in tact and I got full coverage insurance. My Civic is fixable (if not, I could get a new ride). But it looks like I'll have to clear my headlights again.

I went to the towing company and saw my car. I got to take pics and I'll post them up after this. I really miss my Civic. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/IMG] But I'm not really sad about it at all, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to drive again or something, but I'm cool! [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/IMG] I'll post the pics right after I post this message. Man... it sucks not having my only car, but I can save a lil' more money now that I don't have to pay for gas, so maybe I can get somethin for my car when I get it back. I'm gonna give it 4 weeks, and tomorrow I have to get the estimated price on the damages.
