height and snow

i am plannin to get a body kit in the summer, but i dont hink i can afford wheels, so i will stay with my stck 15's. my question is will this work for snow, if i do nothing with the suspenion will the car be heigh enough for snow? and will it look good? ( i have a sedan), and if not, can i get springs which are adjustable, i mean keep the car low in the summer and heighr it up in the winter?

You should be ok, with it as long as you dont plan on going out during a storm and with until the roads are clear.

I just put a body kit on my civic last week and I still have the stick 15's it came with but it still looks pretty phat.....alot of people dont use their rims in the winter so it will look less noticeable than in July....even with the kit i still have good clearance, i still have to watch some driveways but i dont think snow will be a problem.....if you want adjustable suspension get a set of coilovers....crank em up in the winter and down in the summer

and ruin your coilovers....

You must remove your coilovers in the winter...

salt from the roads gets up and inside, and erodes your coilovers.

DONT BE A DUMBASS, listen to experts like me...hehe

trust me, i live in MI, and my friend wrecked his last year

I would get wheels before you get a body kit, but whatever...and I would just wait till after winter, I know the people in Ohio are nuts about laying salt everywhere and it eats your car!

With body kits they will hit the snow, but I dont know how much snow you get in Ottawa, here I hav no body kit and still plow snow on some days. Definitley get the wheels first, they look the best and you will be more satisfied and civics look weird with 15's and body kits.

what's the differencene between stock springs, I bet the salt could do the same thing to them.. I have the eiback prokit and I am keeping it on winter and its fine... they'remade out of metal so salt is not going to just destroy them over night, come on man...

IDQ - What is the coilover sleeve made out of compared to your springs??? I've heard from more than one person that in winter, it's best to remove you're coilovers or spray them off every week. Springs will rust regardless but the sleeve with corrode to the point that you can't adjust the coilover. Now, you still don't think salt is bad? I know that from the first winter, the finish on my Honda and civic emblems was ruined and I could see the plastic underneath.

Player - I'd stay away from a body kit for sure. Your car isn't going to be more than a fancy snowplow in the winter time. Just think about it, how big are those snow chunks that big trucks drop from their wheel wells? Or, how deep do side street ruts get? Now, you want to invest $1500+ into a kit and treat it to that?

I wouldn't worry about a body kit hitting the snow(OEM at least).....its not that much lower.......
And for the coil overs.....I wouldn't worry about them either......If someones coilovers are getting eaten by salt.....they had better start worry about the rest of their car too......

edit:..Are the coilovers made out of aluminum???.....cause aluminum doesn't rust......
and of course if you get a bodykit that is too low to the ground it will hit low objects....I don't know your situation but.....I've driven in the snow w/ my car.......and nothings ever went wrong....

Just remember to respect snowbanks in parking lots and stuff like that...if it ices over, it may not look like it'll do anything, but it's an easy way to a new bumper if you accidentally roll into one...just a possibility, but it does happen and it does suck
