Won't hurt your car, but you should Always put it in Park whenever you leave you vehicle unattended

it depends on what ur doing. if your leaving it on neutral and at a stand still then thats fine. if your leaving it on neutral and going down a hill thats bad, because i believe there is no oil pumping in your engine when u leave it on neutral and since ur going down hill...ur rpm will be quicker and it'll mess up ur engine.(dont quote me on it)
I don't think you can take ur key out if you leave it in Neutral.
Anways whas this for? I only put it in 'N' at drive-throughs or ifIm gonna leave it unattended for a min.
And NO this won't 'hurt' it, but someone could jack the car.

I dont even remember if the ignition would allow you to take out the key if it wasnt in Park or not.
Every car manufacturer puts the Parking gear on it, so use it. If your parking gear was gone, then you could always put your car in 1 or 2, and that pretty much is like a brake with the car off.

i only do that when i have to get out the car for like a min... i put it in neutral and pull the e-brake cause i get lazy and N is on top of D don't have to go up to R... if you parking it on a hill definitely put it in P and pull the e-brake...
I sure wish my car was newer

Yes its a stupid question......just kidding
Man, just use that muscle in your arm and push that lever the extra inch to get to park.....why take the chance of the ebrake failing and then your car getting messed up

Edit: OK, since I now decided to read the entire post () I realize that you're talking about oil pumping (or not) when you coast down a hill (ie, with the engine running). As I said before, the oil pump is always running when the engine is. The speed of the pump is controlled by how many rpm's the engine is turning which in turn has an effect on the amount of oil pressure in the system. So I guess it would be better to leave it in gear going down a hill since you will be revving higher and thus get more oil pressure - but it really shouldn't matter since the oil pressure/flow increases with rpm.

No Oil pumping? WTF? It's pumping oil if it's running, unless the pump is torn up. In which case, your engine is gonna lock up soon. Being in neutral doesn't affect the oil pump.
Going downhill has nothing to do with RPM's UNLESS it's IN-GEAR! If it's out of gear, in manual or auto, it's just idling... As long as you're not pushing on the gas pedal.
Dude..put it in park when you turn it off. Don't be lazy. You're just asking for something weird to happen...i.e. rolling away, getting stolen, getting ragged by forum members..etc etc.
And for all of you automatic people...you know who you are. When you put the car in Park and turn it off, pull the emergency brake BEFORE letting off of the brake pedal...ESPECIALLY on a hill. By letting the car rest on the hill without the emergency brake, you put stress on the transmission. Notice how it makes a loud KLUNK!! when you don't do this? That's the weight of the car resting on the transmission...i.e. BAD! My best friend's family used to live on a very steep hill and they had their share of incidents of their friends cars rolling down the hill because they didn't pull the emergency brake!!
Every question is a stupid question... j/k. No really, they developed PARK position for a reason... for parking a vehicle. I am not unsure why you do not want to use it. The purpose of the E-brake is to assist the vehicle in remaining immobilized... providing additional security, especially when parking on hills.
A question for you, if you do leave the car running when you do this... how do you get the keys out of the ignition? Typically, if the vehicle is not fully placed in the PARK position when shutting off the motor, the keys cannot be removed.
