How do you convert L/100km to mpg?
ok on honda.com and honda.ca they list the civic ex/si as 30/38mpg and 8.2/6L 100/km. the tanks are 50L or 13Gal, 50/13.2 = 3.79 would be the conversion rate. 60 mph is 100km/h. 100/60 is 1.67. so....
8.2 / 3.79 = 2.164gal
100 = 60 miles
60 / 2.164 = 27.726mpg
if honda lists 32mpg to equal 8.2L per 100km than why does my calculation show 27.726mpg equals 8.2L per 100km?
please tell me where i went wrong or if honda is wrong.
cya.

8.2L = 2.1662gal or = 1.804gal
100km = 62.137 mi
So, 62.137/2.1662 = 28.68 mpg or
62.137/1.804 = 34mpg[hr]

yea but like u said, 3.79 is the conversion rate of L to Gal for us standards. on the honda site it shows the conversion as 3.79 because 50L tank to 13.2Gal tank is 3.79L per gallon. so if i did the math, it would show 28.xxxmpg, But us honda site states 30mpg.[hr]

Okay, need I explain this another way? You're taking the 8.2L/100KM off the canadian site and expecting it to work out to what the american site says. However, what conversion rate are they using for their gallons? My 28.68mpg is pretty close to 30mpg and only has a 4% errror.
Lets look at both values for an LX
Manual: Listed on Canadian site 7.5/5.9 L/100KM works out to being 31.4/39.9 mpg. However, the American site lists it at 32/38mpg.
Automatic: CDN site 8.1/5.8 works out to 29/40.6 mpg. However, the American site lists it at 29/38mpg.
Either someone doesn't know how to convert the stats or the way to determine fuel economy differs between the USA and Canada.
