Lancer, Corolla, and Sentra
I want to know your opions? Which car has the best looks, style and performance. IMO I really hate the new corollas and the mitsu. Lancer. The lancer looks like a box car and the corolla looks crappy with its lip kit and stock wheels. And I dont see anyone out there that has 17's on the Lancer and the corolla.

If those were the last 3 cars in the world and I had to pick, I'd get a Sentra. The Corolla looks bloated, and the Lancer front end is just hideous.

2003 Corolla VS 2003 Lancer VS 2003 Sentra
Assuming we're looking at Sentra SE. The SE-R or Spec-V shouldn't be compared with the Corolla or Lancer since the price range is a bit different.
Looks
Sentra is the worst looking out of all 3 in my opinion. I like the new 2003 Corolla looks. The Lancer body looks good as well, however Mitsubishi.. I don't know what they did, but overall, the Lancer just looks cheap. Paint? Body? I don't know. Something makes it look cheap. Also the interior of the Lancer is pretty damn crappy feeling. The huge big old RED emergency signals... and the deck.. looks cheap. Looks wise, the redesigned Corolla kicks ***. Interior/Exterior, well done. Not the best, but looks good in it's class. Sentra, I personally don't like the looks of the Sentra. Sentra SE-R has a nice touch with the sportyness... but if we're looking at the plain ones.. nah... This is personal preference, but I vote for Corolla!
Reliability
Toyota's are known to live the longest. Nissan is starting to do well in the market, but still not as trusted as Toyota. The Nissan Sentra SE-Rs are known for some engine trouble... Mitsubishi... in the reliability department, they are not doing well. Heard several stories about new Eclipses having problems... Looking at resale values and reliability, Corolla again wins this battle.
Power/Speed/Ride Quality
First off, if you care about Speed/performance, you should probably save up a little more and get a car with a stronger engine. Spec wise, I believe Corolla has 130hp, Lancer - 125, and Sentra.. not sure.. but unless you are getting the Sentra SE-R (I believe 165-170hp), don't expect it to be fast. I drove the Lancer, nice and smooth, but I can feel it slow. Corolla drove smoothly.. it won some award for being the mini-lexus ( I believe I read it on edmunds.com).
Usefulness/Roomyness
Lancer, nice and roomy interior, however the trunk was small as hell. Sentra is tiny inside. If you move your front seats back, you will have no space for people in the backseats. I was surprised how tiny the back seats were. Didn't bother looking in the trunk. Corolla, done very well. Trunk is medium sized, enough room for front/back people.
Price/Dealership
If all you care about is price, I'm sure you can go the dealership and kill the price on a Lancer ES.
I'm sure these don't apply to all dealerships. But I visited many dealerships and generally speaking...
Mitsubishi dealers are d**ks. They'll use all the nasty tricks you read on the webpages. They asked for my drivers license to see that I can actually drive and I had a hard time getting it back. They treated me like crap. I asked for a test drive, they asked "are you going to buy it today?".. I said "I don't even know if this is the car I want." and the lady walked away. Was passed around like crap at least 5 times. "he'll give you a test drive" "he will".. and the guys walk away. What a bunch of f*ers.
Nissan Dealerships, wasn't a bad experience. They just left me alone. Can't say much.
Toyota, overall good experience. No problems getting test drives. Sales reps pushed for me test drive.
Overall
Damn... get the Corolla. Beats the other two in looks, reliability, dealership experience.. whatever I said.. s*t.. it's $6am.. gotta go to sleep.

Lancer
Underpowered, 15" Ugly alloys, No standard ABS, Reliability - Questionable.
Corolla
Little more power, good reliability, S-trim looks decent, good aftermarket support
Sentra
Sh|t, f**k, Damn.. that's one ugly car.
Corolla
Sentra
I would go with the Corolla. I think it looks better and I don't think its that slow. The Lancer runs a 17.1 with a manuel tranny. I don't really like the Sentra but I would take the SE-R but we aren't talking about the SE-R.

if u want overall liability, go for the corolla, if u want a bit more power but scrafice alot of realiable stuff, go with sentra SER, these 2 cars about the same price, lancer is ugly and TOO slow, imo
You guys are crazy. The Sentra SE has 145 HP and 136 TQ. Faster than both the Corolla and the Lancer. Look wise I would say the corolla, the sentra is nice and slick but the backend is uuugly(I can say that because I own a sentra), and hte lancer is just hideous. Overall though I think the best value would be between the Corolla and the Sentra. I say if you want more fun and little more power I would go for the Sentra SE(Awesome 2.0l Engine, on Stock internals can hold up to 350+ hp), but if you are looking for a nice reliable car and don't really care much for performance I would say go with the Corolla. just my 2 cents.

I assume we're only looking at new cars here, and I don't think nissan makes the SE this year, just SE-R and Spec V.
Sentra pushes 126hp, XE or GXE package. You can get an 00 or 01 SE 2.0 for about the same amount of chedda.

no se but they are selling a limited edition sentra, which is pretty much an se but with a few extra factory add ons, all in all it looks good. but i would go with the corolla s then the nissan limited edition sentra f*%ck the mitsu its hideous and slower than our civics.

kenji and noodleboy probably sums it all up, but heres wat i think.
guys u forgot about the MAZDA PROTEGE. ive been hearing rave reviews on that car, and as far as im concerned, the protege and the corolla are the only decent competitors out there.
corolla
i would get it in a minute if i had an option besides my civic.
protege
looks kinda smaller but overall good car, so ive heard.
sentra
wat a focking car? small interior and the backend is nasty as shiet.
lancer
they do look so damn boxy and cheap.
neon
the new front and rear ends looks a bit better thou at least.
elantra
but people say its way better than before and underappreciated. i have no focking idea, its a damn kia anyway.
performance aside, i love my stock 2001 SATIN SILVER METALLIC Honda Civic Sedan EX.
CIVICS EATS UP ALL THEIR ASSES on the competition.

i'd take the corolla, it's by far the most well-built and refined compact out there. i wouldn't be caught dead driving a lancer or sentra, even in SE-R trim. the EVO, on the other hand... i'd still buy something else in its price range, though i wouldn't mind owning one.

the lancer looks like a retarded echo.
the sentra sucks. trust me my step dad has one . the exterior looks dumb and the interior is so ugly. i drove to class once (college student), the accelerating on a gxe blows plus its auto. you can rev it up to like 4000 rpm and it wont pick up
maybe the se-r is better
i dont know and i dont care, i hate the car.
the corolla looks so damn good. i like it. i want my girlfriend to buy one, her family is big on toyotas.
the protege, ahh what a phat ride. i had a 96, RIP.

A leading auto review publication is still sticking by our Civics as the best in the subcompact class. They like the Focus too though, because it is inexpensive. I checked out some of these cars at the recent auto show. I've read a lot of reviews about the Corolla being a baby Lexus, but I didn't think the one at the auto show was that great. It was a CE but still, I thought it had kind of an old fashioned look to the controls etc. I think the baby Lexus that they are talking about is the Corolla with the leather seats and fake wood, but I don't care for all of that stuff in an econobox myself. And plus you get the price up to around $18 k at that point. It was nice enough though, and needs less maintenance than the Civic, and uses more ordinary things like 5w30, I believe and I won't argue with the reliability claims of the Corolla. The 03 also just got the 5 star crash rating, so the Civic is getting more company in that arena.
The Sentra seems pretty nice, but like someone else mentioned it hasn't built the reputation of Toyota. The Lancer I didn't pay much attention to. They had a big marketing blitz when it came out aimed at the youte market, so I don't know too much there.
I was expecting that leading publication to replace the the Civic with the Corolla as the best in class, but they didn't. They seem to be saying that the Civic is peppier, and from my experiences of sitting in the front seats of both cars, the Civic has a friendlier environment to it.

what's wrong with the lancers? I think they look good. I don't care how they look stock, but when they're all tricked out, they look bad. Just like the civic. I can't stand how they look stock. I guess that's just me though.

Corolla hands down. Neither of the other 2 really compare to the t-yota. Although, I do find toyotas to be a little numb in the driving experience department. Too quiet, ride to well, etc...but you may like that though so go take it for a test drive..
