i finally rode in the 02 si yesterday. I have to say it is not as bad as i thought. My friend just bought a white one . i have to admit i hated this car when i first seen it, but now it is kinda growing on me. The Si is kinda quick too, i know it would definitely eat my 02 ex up no doubt. People that say it is not that much faster than the ex are nuts. How could it not be it has 33 more horses, and if you modded it out that thing would be damn quick. Also the interior is freaking awesome. All in all it is not that bad, but i just the body style on my coupe better.

Rep Power: 0 Actually it only weighs around 200lb more than a Ex Coupe. However, it still makes a difference. Last time I was at the track there were two different new Si's taking some runs. The best they could do was 16.0 and 15.7. They both had the AEM CAI and exhaust work done.

EX runs 0-60 in 8.4 secs. It also runs 16.7 quarters at 84 mph.

Si runs 0-60 in 8 secs. It also runs 16.2 quarters at 86 mph.

I love those seats. As for the Si as a whole? It's nice, but if it was say 100 or 200 lbs lighter than the EX, then it would be cool. The price is ridiculous in terms of performance against the EX. Granted, .5 secs in the 1/4 is quite a margin but for $4000?! I'm sure the K20A3 will have much more potential than the D17A2, but I'd rather have my $4k and pay a lot less for insurance.

well, 4000 would be a lot more... but have you looked at prices lately? don't go by honda.com, usually you can get an si for under 18k out the door, and the ex is comparable to that price, if not just a little cheaper... the si is awesome, and being faster than the ex the price is right, i think i am gonna trade in my dx next year after financial aid for a white one, stop hating

The Si and EX models are so close together that any race between them would come down to driver ability so don't doubt yourself too soon Mongo.

Rep Power: 401 All I know is that performance wise there's nothing special about it. That's why people are swapping in the RSX Type-S engines into their '02 Si's. Now, the one thing that sucks is it's appearance. Everyone that I know that sees the car for the first time comments on it looking either, "like a station wagon", or "like a minivan". Rep Power: 406 Simply put, the Si sucks because 1) it is not better than the 2000 2) the engine sucks, and 3) the competition got stiffer.
The 2000 Si is faster and corners better than the new one. I don't understand why Honda didn't improve upon it at all. I figured they would have at least tried to out do themselves, if not everyone else as well. The Engine may say DOHC i-VTEC on it, but it is not DOHC VTEC. It just happens to have 2 camshafts and VTEC. Only the intake cam has variable timing and it it switches at 2500 RPM. No kick, no scream, nothing. Why they did this? I have no idea. But it was stupid. Not to mention that for around the same amount of green stuff, you can buy an SE-R Spec V, a GTi 1.8T, SVT Focus, or a bunch of other cars that are more visually appealing and better performing than it. Until they drop more power into this thing, I don't think it will be doing too well. I'm fine with the hatch thing... it seems to be something that all the companies are doing now, but how the hatch is heaftier than the coupe is beyond me. It needs to go on a diet or they need to give it a little more kick. I'd just be interested in seeing what would happen if the engine was modified to have the exhaust cam also be variable. I should think that would give it a little more go, but now I guess they're stuck with it... at least until the next one.

Rep Power: 394 Phil is right. I mean you can hop in a insight and say "wow this thing feels fast" when in reality it is slow as shiet! It is the numbers that count not how it feels. I mean if you want it to feel quick but not really be quick that is fine. Cars are a personal choice. If I wanted a fast car, I wouldn't have gotten a civic, but I like the way it feels. It isn't about power but the power to weight ration. Put a Ford V-8 in a fiesta with some N20 and a turbo and you have one one fast ****, but put that same engine in an old thunderbird or f150 and that car isn't as fast, even tho it still feels fast.

One of the main reasons why I dont like it is the headlights. They just do fit that car for some reason. Now, if they decided to go with a diff shape, maybe I would like it. It kinda reminds me of the new celica headlights, and I really dont like the headlights on that either.

have u guys ever seen real times of these cars with regular drivers at the track?...i raced a few 99/00 SI's(couldnt tell the exact year)...but out of the three...the fastest one got was 16.1...and he had I/H/E and Vtec Controller...the others were 16.3 and 16.4...and these were their best...dunno what their average's were.

I love how everyone always dogs on the new SI's, you guys just have no clue. I have a new SI and my friend has an old one and ill tell you that there is no huge difference speed wise between the two, like everyone say. Style wise I about *** my pants when i look outside and see my baby sittin there in the drive. From the factory looks are decent, but after you drop it and put on some rims it looks badass. Only thing that pisses me off is the lower redline, which i admit does blow. The only reason why it seems slower is because the previous SI has been out for along time and tons of aftermark parts are available. Just wait till all the turbos and **** come out for the 02 because people will be getting more out of this engine than any previous hondas, and every will be saying hrmm yea Ive always liked the new SI's better. blah, rant, rave.....done.

I don't ph34r the new Si, I would think twice about racing a 99-00 Si with an intake but a 02-03 Si with intake? I don't fear them, none have ever beat me at the track yet, just look at mag times if that's your thing, or go to a track and see for yourself.
