Alright, for those who like the Toyota Matrix, for good reasons, would you consider the Pontiac Vibe GT? Same toyota engine, 6speed, and all that jazz. Other than that, i'm not sure what else is actually toyota's. Just need some info and opinions. I just hear sometimes its a better deal to get the "sister" car sometimes. Plus, its technically American (the vibe) so there's more room to breathe as far as price goes.

I drove a Vibe GT a couple weekends ago to the UP of Michigan. I liked it alot. I'd get one. The one I had navigation, which was helpful. I noticed alot of Toyota parts bin parts. Such as the steering wheel, window and door lock switches, etc. From what I've seen of the Matrix, it appears as though almost everything is the same except for the sheetmetal and a few changes inside. Not to mention I got something close to 32 mpg.

the toyota is technically american also. so are civics, accords and odysseys. and so are acuras except for the NSX.

well they are assembled in the usa but the engine is from japan and thats what counts

not to mention the plastic bumper parts that pontiac liek to use. ugleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

matrix looks better and toyota is a better brand.

My Uncle works at the pontiac dealer he told me to wait for the Vibe but nahh glad I went with my Civic. Haven't drove one yet though

Ummm.... you can actually get it without the panels, and make it all one color like a normal car.

The Matrix is built in Canada, and the Vibe in Cali.

My friend bought his wife the Matrix, and I like it. I dont know if I would considerbuying one for myself now, maybe after I get married and have kids but by that time, the Matrix will be out of production. I also like the Vibe. Even thought it is the exact same thing as the Matrix, I dont think i would buy one. I would rather buy a toyota......Brand and I would pay the extra money too....Not every part on the Vibe is a Toyota part.....and thats what leads me away from the Vibe.

Yeah fo example...the chevy (geo)prizm (i think thats the one), looked a lot like the corolla at one point.

umm just like any car if you get the low end trim then you will never get body colored anything.. if you get the highend trim youll get the body colored bumpers and all... Its the same with toyota, look at their matrix, the ones that arnt fully loaded, they have gray bumpers, also all cars have plastic bumpers now!

Pontiac's are garbage ... !

Girlfriend has the sunfire .. and just to list a few problems after 1 year having it ..

1)gas guage is broken
2) shocks were gone in 6 months
3)power locks dont work
4)wiper fluid doesnt come out
5)it just looks soo cheap inside !!! ewww

but the Vibe on the other hand i dont mind its Toyota engine !!
