Still a damn Neon, First it were the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Neons, then Chrysler Neon, now DOdge SX 2.0, they probably think the new name will make idiot buyers think its a new car and buy it....
My friend she has a 2001/2 Neon.. she tells me she gets a bunch of recall letters and it goes back to the dealership more than it being washed...

the fact is that the neon was is and will be a better aftermarket performer then any 7th civic with the exception of perhaps the HP hatches. Not only that, the aftermarket products are WAY more available for this car.

My first car was a Plymouth Neon the SOHC kind. It definitely felt faster than my current Civic, but the think had alot of rattles... not to mention the leaking headgasket, the bad cam seals, and the moonroof that broke on me. All this before 60k miles. I should've just gotten a Civic or something else at the time, but I got a discount from Chrysler because my family was tight with the dealership.
Neons just seem to be generic to me. Just like the inside of a geo; not plush at all. I think that bottom of the line civics have a better interior feel than neons. I just don't like the style of american cars of this caliber.
ok this should not even be a debate, we are talking about neons here, they're trailor trash buggies, that fall apart the min u drive off the lot, resale value is horrible, and the very ugly.
First off, I hate neons - let's just get that out of the way. But there's one around town that's been modded out bad, and the owner told me that most people don't realize the neon comes with the same engine as the Eclipse. That would make it a rather sporty car, if it were true - I don't know, I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to under the hood.
But that still doesn't change the fact that the neons are definitely un-reliable, and degrade extremely quickly. So, anybody want to either confirm or deny this, about the engine I mean?

I still haven't figured out why neons are always "damn neons".

neons are a discrace, everytime i see one i sigh with relief that it isn't mine.
every neon i've seen tricked out, has been done half@ssed. bottom line is that they are cheap piles of $hit balanced on top of 4 wheels!!!!

ENGINEERED FOR SOME SERIOUS FUN.
SX 2.0 and SX 2.0 Sport
The proven 2.0-litre I-4 SOHC engine uses 16 valves and Sequential Multi-Point Fuel Injection (SMPI) to crank out 132 horsepower (98 kW) at 5600 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, with a four-speed automatic also available.
still a neon i agree. 2.0 with that little power

I definately don't drive what most people consider the "typical" neon. 100 thousand miles, only 1 headgasket (car was traded in with the gasket blown, they fixed at the dealer and I bought it cheap) and a TPS. The '98s like mine (as well as newer neons) have great paint, and much better reliability (see above) than the older models. I highly doubt anyone here will have better reliability over 100 thousand miles than I've had already. The engine is chrysler, no mitsubishi involvement at all. I've run a 15.0 @ 90 with just intake, PCM, and a muffler.
