civic or integra
civic or integra
i got a 2002 civic dx (manual) and a 97 4door integra gs (automatic). i love both of these cars but i dunno which car to put my money into. i love the civc cause its a manual, but the integra has more power. i know i can change the transmission on the integra, but i don't want to spend that much money just to change the transmission. The civic has skunk2 coilovers, aem CAI, and a kenwood cd deck. The integra is stock. Right now the integra is in the shop cause of an accident, and the front bumper is going to be replaced with a JDM type-r front. Help, i dunno what to do. please any suggestions.
well, if u'r goin for power, stick with the 4dr integra, because there are way more power options as far as swaps and turbos and superchargers are concernd for that car. if your going for a newer, nicer, more reliable car, then stick with the civic. its really a toss up if you're thinkin about puttin a lot of money into either one of the cars, because there is a lot of stuff out for integras at the moment, but even more stuff will be available for the civics later on. id personally ditch the integra and dump ur money into the civic. or u could sell both and get somethin much nicer than either of those two cars.
For me I'd go for the Civic when it comes to setting it up even though I know the aftermarket parts are still coming out from the different car manufacturers. I can see that the new Civic has potential when it is set up right. We're not just really used to it since we've gone used to the previous gen Civics but let's give this one a try.

Why in the hay would you want to mess with a civic with you have a f-ing teg? That's messed up man...forget the darn civic....dayum...
I'd sell em both and get a late model gsr or rsx-s.

I'd say fix up the Integra or trade both in for a GS-R, but I disagree with the Type S. Or sell your Civic and use the money to make the Integra even much faster with a tranny or engine/tranny swap.
well for now i think i'm just gonna wait for more parts for the civic, but if nothing comes out soon then i'm gonna turbo the integra. supposedly it is a good engine to turbo, so most likely if nothing comes out in a couple of months i'm gonna turbo the integra and maybe change tranny.

THe LS/RS/GS models can handle alot more boost right off the lot. Low compression ratio is the key for a good turbo setup. The B18B has a lower compression ratio then the B18C1 and B18C5. It's CR is 9:8:1 ( I think) where has the GS-R is at 10:1 and the Type R is at 11:1, higher compression ratio is key for N/A setups. You can run up to 9-10 psi on stock internals with any teg, B series engines are the greatest. However anything past 10 lbs of boost, I would upgrade internals. It is alot cheaper to get a decent turbo setup for a LS as compared to the GS-R or Type-R. It will probably be about a good 1000 dollars cheaper. That is why so many people turbo the LS. There isn't too many Turboed GS-R's.
IMO a good idea is to keep the teg (i like integra sedans), sell the civic, drop a b20 (with a 5spd) in there and supercharge it. it'd be a great daily driver and nobody would know what hit them when you smoke 'em right off the line.
aznsmtboy thanks for the info, now i'm really leaning towards putting my money into the integra. It would also be a great sleeper, who would think a sedan would be turboed!!!!
