white2k2ex....he's in a bad situation due to his excessive speed....now i'll tell you why nearly 1000 dollars of fines is rediculous and too much....if he isn't financially stable, he needs to eat, and punishment can still be fufilled by community service. If he is excessively rich, money won't mean anything, and he most likely won't learn anything...again, community serivce will help because he is forced to repent further than just whipping out a checkbook. I don't know about you, but most communities can use more serivce than there are cops that need revenue to get a new viper interceptor, or something of the sort.

my buddy had a ticket for 120 in a 50 over the chesapeake bay bridge (he was doing 130). He was taken directly to jail on christmas eve. He drives a GSR. I went to go see him and his parents and saw his car at the bottom of the bridge. I had to laugh!!!

He was given a DUI as well. He got a lawyer and kept his lisence. If you just pay the fine you will loose your lisence for like 3 months and your insurance will go through the roof. You will most likely end up on state insurance which is outrageous. If you get a lawyer and write a letter to the cop saying how sorry you are and this won't ever happen again. and then go to court with this in his and your records, you will most likely have the points reduced to 2 or 3 and the fine reduced by half if not more. Also offer defensive driving class as well.

By the way my friend ended up in jail for 3 months due to 3 DUIs. He was caught will speeding. now he barely ever drinks and definately DOESN'T Speed.

So in closing.... GET A LAWYER. It may end up costing a grand like the ticket but atleast your insurance will stay low and you will save thousandss a year for up to 3 years with the insurance company.

oh and I forgot. to all you people bashing this dude. Tell me on an open road with no one around you haven't tried to see what you top out at?!?!?!

I hit (according to the speedometer) 145 in the GSR and 134 in my 2001 civic. After 120 make sure you know the roads and it is straight and wide. Handling deminishes greatly after 120.

Damn people have a lil heart!

"No cop No stop!"

BTW I have 6 points son my liscense from actually doing the speed limit or there about. 65/55 40/30 74/55 and my most recent 50/35 (but the posted speed limit is actually 40) Bad cop, Bad, if you are going to give me a ticket atleast know the speed limit.

Shawn, I see what you're saying. But honestly, I don't give a damn if he's financially stable or not. Going 65 in a 55 would fall under my definition of playing around, but thats why I said I hope his car is impounded and he loses his liscense. 105 in a 55 is not playing around, or being sporty, or trying to get to work on time, its utter disrespect for other people, and irresponsibility. If he can't figure out 105 in a 55 is TOO much, then he does not have the reasoning skills necessary to drive a car. If community service was tacked on to losing his liscense and use of his car, thats fine by me. People need to start taking responsibility for their actions and stop whining. If he didn't wanna pay for a ticket and whatever consequences come along with that, maybe he should've thoght about that before hand.

white2k2ex....ok, ok. We'll be allies now... I really did think about your last post. I agree. I guess there are many point of views, and i do not in any way at all, disagree with yours. I'll go ahead and retract a few things i said earlier in favor of yours. When you pointed out how truly severe it is, i understood. You're right.....thats not playing or even being sporty, or even hauling ***....its way past that. He shouldn't be operating a vehicle, as stated by you, it just hit me that way too many people die that way. And anyone who dies that way constitutes being way too many. I am also a big believer in people being accountable for their actions, because you and i will surely have to, so nobody else should duck out.

I probably would have arrested you on the spot and taken you in and charged you with multiple offenses, including reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

get a lawyer? for what? you KNOW you were wrong... i'll admit i hit 110 once(its not easy with our cars), i did it knowing the consequences... if i got caught i would have been ready to do the "time". i might not like it but i deserve it for going 110. i'm just saying if your going to b.tch about it, dont do it at all. i'll admit, you'll usually see me hitting 80/90 in a 65, call me irresonsible for drving fast but i know if i get caught i'll be pleading guilty and pay the ticket. do 110, i could care less, but b.tching about the ticket you got is another thing.

come on, be responsible... you knew you were wrong so just pay up. why fight it when you knew you were wrong, be a man and just suck it up and pay. your lucky you didnt get your car impounded for wreckless driving. i'll admit i speed too but if i get caught for speeding, i'm not going to b.tch about it. you knew the consenquences, you got caught so pay up.
Amen brother. I can't stand it when ppl whine and complain about speeding tickets when they were going well over the limit. Here's a hint, if you're gonna speed, you BETTER know the area WELL and you better be prepared to pay the fine if you're caught! I can understand complaining about a ticket for speeding like 5 or 10km/h over the limit but man doing 105mph in a 55 - You deserved it!!!

Quit bashing this guy. he knows he messed up and yes he probably should of phrased his topic title different but Damn People. stay in the far right lane. So what if I crash and die. Do you care about me or this dude. No. I never met you!!! As long as your the only one on the road and you don't get cuaght its all Not as bad as you all are making it.

The only people other then family and friends that would care are the cops that have to do the paper work.

I know this sounds stupid! and most of you think I am a moron for saying this. But Its a free country, so they say, so as long as it isn't hurting someone else. LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never talked to you before. But I really respect you now, I always have a hard time backing down from what I say. Whether its right, wrong, or otherwise. We were never enemies, we just disagreed. Peace.
