I know it's been beaten to death, but...
The gas light came on for the first time today as I was driving to work. It kinda surprised me and stayed on the whole drive, about 20 miles. When I pulled into the gas station and it only took 10.1 gallons! Honda needs to get a clue.

My gass lights really screwed up.........
I drive to work......the light is on the whole way (10 miles).......
I get off work and drive home.......It doesn't come on at all..........
it has a mind of its own.........I just try not to make it come on.

the loght usually comes on when you have about a whole 1/8th of a tank left. I drove with the light on about 50(80km's) miles when I went on a road trip.. Filled up..added 43 liters of gas. That was cuttin it close

I've only seen my gas light once; it came on as I started up a small incline...Kinda faded on, it was pretty cool...I rarely let my car dip that close to empty
Ya, I think its a good idea to keep at least a quarter tank full if you can. After some time (years) the gas tank can get crud in it and when the level gets low that crud can get sucked in and start to plug up the fuel filter. Plus, running out of gas sucks!
I did some calculation and figured out that, when the gas light came on, i could've gone another 100+ kms before i actually ran out... that is, if the size of the tank is true
