Question for Manual Drivers

I was driving today and going from 2nd to 3rd.. it either:

1. got stuck half way
or
2. shifted into 5th..

But it feelslike the car isn't going and i was at 60 doing at 2100 RPM.. It felt like I was in 5th but when i looked, it is definitely in 3rd gear. So i switch it to 4th gear (pulling straight down) and it WAS 3rd gear.

Does anyone know why it did that???? possible 3rd turn to 5th???

Hmmm.... The car runs about 2900 at 60. Chances are you were in 5th, or maybe part of the way. If you pull it out of 5th, back to 4th, it feels like you're pulling straight back because of the reverse lockout. I doubt you were in 3rd, It would have been running over 4K.

i agree, that reverse lockout helped you out.

At 60mph and only 2100rpms? Like Boilermaker said, our cars run just under 3K in 5th, so there's no way it could have been in 3rd at such a low rpm.

U dont grab the shift ****.
If u shift form 2nd to 3rd, just push it up with ur plam "vertically", no "horizontal" movement.
cuz the stick will automaticly pop to the middle collum.

By the why, i think u were in the 5th.

same thing happens to my 2nd gear, it pops out often. I mean as soon as a i press down the clutch and touch 2nd gear it's like it wants to go out. The biggest problem i'm having now, is u know how u have to kind of "force" it into reverse? well the same thing is happening with my 1st gear. If i don't force it in so it clicks, it'll go partially and just grind and i don't move. it's pissin me off

You're definitely going into 5th.

Just push it up coming out of 2nd. You don't need to "find" your way into 3rd gear. You should be able to shift with 2 fingers from 2nd to 3rd (unless maybe you have a short shifter) and there's no way you could go back into 1st without feeling like you have to force your way into it.

Just push it up to 3rd from 2nd. It's not going anywhere except 3rd gear where it belongs.

As for why 2nd pops out, I dunno. I don't have that issue.
