Ok...now it's time to put up or shut up.
Okay. I've been hearing tons and tons of stuff about people swapping different engines into our 7th Gen Civics and doing all kinds of modifications performance-wise. Lots and lots of cash has been spent and a lot of people are starting to admit, "Hey, these cars were not meant to be roadsters and will never be able to amount to one." Then, I'm still hearing people claiming they can do some wicked things with their 7th Gen Civic; so I am asking now...those of you that have spent hundreds and even thousands on your cars to better the performance...let's see some results. No more excuses about dyno-testing...if you are going to dump a ton of cash into your car for performance, you should see the reason for spending more cash to have it dyno'ed and make sure you are getting good results. Especially those of you who have done engine swaps...come on, prove to us that your efforts are worth it. Also...be ready to back up anything over 200 horsepower with a scanned copy of the dyno results with the shop name and phone number on it (because I have seen too many photoshopped dyno sheets). I know I'm being a little abrasive about this, but I have really grown to like this site and the members (most of them) and would like to start seeing proof behind a lot of the smack talk and shop talk. As you all know, I just purchased a 95' Cadillac El Dorado with the huge 4.9L 32 valve Northstar engine in it...and man, that thing can pull. However, I keep looking at my Civic sitting in the garage everytime I pull into my driveway...and keep saying to myself..."Man, that really is a good-looking car." It's really hard being pulled in two different directions, because I'm really more of a performance nut, but if only that Civic could live up to my standards of performance...it would be a jewel. But once again, to those of you who have done engine swaps, major performance mods, both, or just plain brag all the time...let's please see some dyno results and then hear the costs. only one person here so far has gotten an engine swap and thats htown. from what i hear he's modest and doesnt like to show his ish off so i doubt you'll be seeing a dyno sheet from him. as for people with turbo, there are a couple but keep in mind there arent internals for our cars so you cant run at a high boost anyways. also the people with turbo hardly even posts on this site. chances are your not going to find the people running anything better then 15s on this site but on the streets and at your local drag strip. as everyone says, civics arent meant to be fast, they are economic cars. they can be fast but then any car and be fast. money talks. the turbo kit from turbo performance i heard can run up to almost 500 horse power but its just the internals that are stopping it.

I think he's getting the AC back in eventually.
not using the power steering will free up some hp. but 220? more than the crank output? I dont think so.
last time I check he had an K&N filter stuck on it instead of the regular stock filter...
he's probably pumping 170+ at the wheel.
that engine is capable of more though.. so I'm sure he can get it to 200 with some more extensive mods.

Damnit...I just searched to find my old post with my slips. I found it, but the images are gone...forgot that the site that was hosting them is no more. When I get home later today I'll post my slips. I have two sets.

okay... um... evildave makes a good point. If you put a 200hp engine in your car... uh duh... you have 200hp. Its not like any of us are going to say.. ya this products makes you go 3 seconds faster blah blah... obviously people running turbo are going faster as such with NOS and engine swaps. If you want REAL power... you are going to have to either mod your car to the point where its not a civic anymore or buy another car.
If you ever saw that yellow 'civic' sponsered by AEM with the 1000hp honda F1 engine (twin turbo) with a fiberglass frame... ya that thing pulls 9s flat... then again... it costs more than a viper to build and maintain.
unless you have a ton of money your civic WILL NOT EVER be fast. Yes it looks good, but its a 1.7L engine my GOD. and the engine bay is SO SMALL you really cant fit too much in there.
whatever.. i just cant stand people asking these types of questions... I have my car cause it looks cool and its all i can afford. I love it and I dont b*tch about it being slow cause it gets me where i want to go.

Here's the best from my 1st trip to the track.
I guess I never scanned my slips from my 2nd trip, so I'm going to go downstairs and look for them. My scanner is at my brother's house right now, so I'm gonna have to snap a pic of the slips with my logitec quickcam (meaning the quality might not be too good)

Oh and my mods!
AEM CAI - got it used for like 90 bucks from EXNPB on this site.
2.25" piping from cat to Arospeed muffler - 90 for the muffler new off of E-Bay, 116 for the piping and install at a local shop.
Thats about it I guess. Unless you want to count my spiffy Type R style gun metal shift ****. It feels better than stock so of course it must make me quicker! (if you think I'm serious on you)
EDIT: Oh and the 2nd time slip was without a hood.

Supermex: I didn't dyno it (yet..more on that in a sec), those are time slips from some 1/4 mile runs I did in May and August of this year. However soon I think I will dyno it at a local shop just to prove once and for all that mod's do not make much of a differnce on the d17a engine. At Carboys it is 50 dollars for 1 or 3 runs I think.
