There is no such thing as an Si/SiR automatic. On top of that The 99/00 Si/SiR Has a power peak of 7800 RPM. Given the gearing of said cars, with the afore mentioned powerband, you get a car that runs best in the top end. If its a highway race, its obviously from a roll, and at higher speeds. This would mean that launching is no longer a deciding factor, meaning that its Machine VS Machine unless there is a missed shift, or the foold didnt bother to drop it into the correct gear to start with. And given that, and numbers dont lie, there is no way a stock Celica GT is going to out accelerate a stock Si/SiR from a roll, at highway speeds. And I can tell you, that with equal drivers that GT isnt going to win from a dead stop either. Ive found out personally, repaeatdly.

Its a proven fact automatic GTS' run in the 16s.

Ive met my fair share of ricer retards on that site.
I've killed more impressive cars than Civics, including a Merecedes-Benz SLK240 Kompressor, Pontiac GrandPrix GT, NOSed Chevy S10 Xtreme, Honda Accord EX V6.."
I really dont see how any of those "cars" are more impressive thena civic, with the exception of perhaps the MBZ. And on that note, there is NO such thing as an "SLK 240". EVERY SLK in the MBZ line-up is listed here
SLK 200 Gasoline
SLK 200 Kompressor
SLK 200 ML
SLK 230 Kompressor
SLK 230 ML
SLK 32 AMG
SLK 320
Im willing to bet you out launched the automatic slush box from a stop and shut down before it could play catch up... that is assuming you are just confused about what car you "raced", and not a lair.
First of all.. I don't go on Mercedes website to grab all the models numbers. That's what YOU do. 230, 240, 250, 300, I don't fu-cking memorize model numbers. The *FACT* of the matter is, I *DID* beat it.. and it was a Kompressor. Three times, so it wasn't a fluke. Anyways, you weren't even there, so STFU.. you don't OWN a Celica GT, and you never RACED a SLK in it, so drop your lame *** assumptions. If you want to prove me wrong that badly, bring your B16 up here. Or stop talking so much smack.
It's a proven fact that auto GTS run 16s? I don't think so.. where did you get this INFO from? It doesn't even 16's.. it'd be lucky to do 17's. Why? Because the dealership guys my brother works for (Toyota) drag raced a 4Runner (a 17's car) and a GTS auto.. 4Runner pulled away. Another fact is that Auto GT is a lot faster than Auto GTS. Don't be a magazine boy.
Oh yeah.. haha.. I see you like to collcet pictures from other internet fourms and post them... "0WNED" "RICED!" nice hobby
VicLX: Additional passenger makes a HUGE difference. With my Civic, I can't even beat my dad's Previa Minivan if I have a 2nd passenger. But I can, when I am alone. Something to think about, what extra 150-200lb does to a car that weighs only 2465lb. Anyway, maybe I'll bring the Celica down to the next meet... you can race me

I cruise down PHC all the time when i feel like it, nothing like a sunset on the ocean.... its great"
"probably mid 8s to 9s for auto GTS (depending on weather, if it's summer or something, it'll be 9s) stock. 1st gear takes forever. auto GT might have a faster 0-60, i dunno."
i got in line and ran. i ran a 16.614 @ 85.228 mph with a 2.658 60'. the 60' is exactly .010 better than my 60' for a 16.851 @ 84.144. i'll post the slips later, but the 1/8 mile was only a tenth better but 1.5mph better. so i guess that improvement was purely from colder weather and the unbolted exhaust...
here's my slip:
R/T: 1.236
60 foot: 2.658
1/8 ET: 10.942
1/8 mph: 67.626
1/4 ET: 16.614
1/4 mph: 85.228
the one where i uh...didn't launch:
R/T: 4.447 (haha the guy actually yelled at me to go)
60 foot: 2.942
1/8 ET: 11.211
1/8 mph: 67.711
1/4 ET: 16.903
1/4 mph: 84.637
figures. launching at 2000rpm might as well be not launching at all. i need a torque converter."

Its funny, whenever anyone seems to get caught like that they always have a brother or uncle who "id a certified honda mechanic", or dealer, or what have you. Odd.

WTF.. this guy goes on newcelica org.. goes though all the threads.. finds one he likes.. and cuts and pastes.
Why don't you look thru past THIS thread of people doing 15's with stock Celica GTs.. dumb ***. Or better yet, since you went through all the threads, I guess you SHOULD know that stock GTs run 15's. But since to you, this is a "match" you won't post that, would you?
Match over? It never started.. give yourself a pat on the back.. fourm rat! HAHA

You know you lost on the point, so you try and steer the topic else where. Smooth.
... and who said ANYTHING about an auto GTS being slower OR faster then a manual GT? Exactly. Quit pulling things out of your ***. Its not becoming of a lady.
BTW, my myopic minded friend, I posted the links to the exact threads of which I quoted. Don’t be dumb sparky, don’t be dumb.

Oh yea... I ran a best of 14.9 off the bottle. Bring it.

VicLX: No eh... heh... well if you read my posts carefully, I said I pulled away from them on the highway.. more torque, shorter gearing. We went at it again, and again, and again.. all same results. But I did say when I waited, and the SiR caught up, it passed me slowly at 200+km/h speeds. Benifit of extra 20HP. Why the f-uck would I lie to you about it dude.. it's my brother's ride, and I wish Civics were quicker, but they aren't.
This whole stupidity started when someone said a slower car (7thGenCivics) are quicker than a faster car (CelicaGT). And they haven't driven a Celica. I know you beat an automatic one with your auto, but that doesn't mean much since we were talking about stick here. I mention about the SiR incident, because I *KNOW* a stock 7thGen could NEVER do it.
JoeB16: Your pictures are cute.. post some more, I know you "0W3N" a lot more than that

No dude, YOU are getting sad. Read carefully before you post stupid s-hit.
Anyway, I'm DONE with this thread.. I made my point about Celica GT vs 7th Gen Civic. People like to guess based on its street reputation. Just like how people said LX being faster than EX was impossible... or a Hyundai Elantra qiucker than a Civic. You know what? Unless you happened to have raced a few, or have driven one yourself, you don't know. Don't make assumptions.
If anyone wants to prove me wrong otherwise, show up, and race me. You are more than welcome to. I hate telling people about any races, because somebody out there always has stupid remarks to make, when they never even driven the car. Bottom line--race. Don't trash talk behind your computer.
A final side note, and something for everyone to think about.. (and not just bow down to the "SiR" mytique).
1. Toyota MR-2 Spyder does 1/4 mile in low 15s. 0-60mph in low 7s. Definitely faster than the SiR. It has the 1.8L DOHC engine, that is rated at 140HP, and the torque peaks at only mid-4000RPM. That exact same engine found in the Celica GT. Only difference is, Celica weighs 200lb more.
2. Honda Civic SiR, weighs about another 200lb on TOP of the Celica. Yes, it has another 20HP.. but a very PEAKY powerband, from a 1.6L. Peak torque occurs close to 7,000RPM. And it has a long *** gearing compared to the Celica.
Still think I couldn't pull from it on the highway?

Why argue over civic vs. celica who cares they are both slow as hell so why bother to compare them If you are interested in discussing powerful motors I would suggest you look into domestics, V8's own all.

I'd say the GT is faster than the Si.....I saw a typeR and a GTS go at it...and the typeR got raped....and they raced like 3 or 4 times...it was bad....haha...Joeb16...u just need to chill okay...and just learn to admit when someones car is faster than yours...you have an SiR not a S2000....

didnt want to read the entire topic so this may have been said before....
1)6th gen Si and 7th gen GT stock for stock are damn close.... drivers race
2)A good car is not ALL 1/4 mile, 7th Gen Celi's own in autocross
3)5spd Celi GT's are kinda fast, high 15's
.... Auto Celi GT's are HORRIBLE, they run low 17's
4)So what if a Celica is .000001 second faster than whatever in the 1/4 mile

1. the MR-S weighs 2200 lbs... and is RWD. You FAWKING DUMBASS.
2. Really? Last time I had it corner weighted my car weighed in @ 2620 lbs (on the DOT) WITH a full tank of gas, plus all my other mods (ie nitrous, heavier rims, and what not). The GT has a curb weight of under 2400 lbs? Last time i checked it weighs 2565 (official dry curb weight given by Toyota of America Ltd. for a standard 03 Celica MTX).
3. Yes. Yes It can and WILL.
Way to go math genius.
Would you like another pic now?

AGAIN wow this is pretty lame.
ur like saying a base rsx will pull on a si. sigh.
how bout we try a SIMPLE mathematical proof.
GT 2425lb / 140hp = 17.3 lb/ hp
SI 2600lb / 160hp = 16.25lb / hp
oh yea.. lower is better.
si also has a higher powerband, which means it'll pull harder on fwy speeds.
