1/4 mile..SPANKED!

Man o man...I went to the "Luskville" drag strip up here in canada, today. jeepers.

My best time was 17.431, worst was 17.798, average was 17.617. dang.

I have an LX sedan.

My friend with a dodge dakota even whooped my butt! the only guy I probably coulda beat (but he wouldn't race me) was a guy in an old ford taurus (don't know what he was doing there).

I can't wait to get a turbo

next summer!!!

How many seconds do you guys think I could shave off my time with a turbo? I'm going to upgrade the fuel lines, and run about 6/7psi.

Just thought I would share my anti-kill story.

peace

Ehhh what can you do? Not much.. Just keep on smokin the Foci and the other little 4 bangers out there. Turbo will probably get you into the 14s or 15s. .

hehehe unfortunately, there weren't any foci.

being in the 14's would be nice. my friend has a gt, though, and he pulls low 14's....it'd be nice to at least get high 14's!!!

ack...the strip is sooo addictive

but..its so fun

I thought our cars ran low 16's??? And the occasional lucky guy that would pull off a 15.9.

Damn, that's horrible. Starting in 2nd gear is like feathering the clutch for 5 or 6 full seconds in 1st gear.

Cool for Tek to show courage to even go to a drag strip in a civic and went on to race on the track not knowin the capability it ,in this case not much...maybe an engine swap or little help from here and there just to make it run a little faster(u wont notice much),for time being (including me) we better just focus on the cosmetics and suspension, brakes etc...cus goin to a strip is gonna hurt my feeling..P.S..can a civic spin the tire(s) with a banana peel underneath them?

Maybe my civic is on steroids or something, but my LX manual can peel out like a ******, i mean like 30 feet in first and a good solid squeal into second and occasionally into third. I am planning a trip to ther dragstrip next friday to see what I can do.

whoa...d00d...you MUST have stock tires

I squealed, but only a little. I tried not to, but ya, my launches were trash.

This was the first time I've been to a strip. I was thinking that it would give me some good reference points for when I do something major to my engine. Turbo is coming next summer...

I really was spanked, though. Did I mention the mustang club that was there?

oh, and there were a couple of crotch rockets there that ran low 10's!!!

that was nuts.

but ya man, LX manual...sedan. I've only been driving stick for the past three months I've had it. I've driven auto's till now

So...it's probably just my lack of skill. So...in theory, the next time I go I should see a bit better times.

It's really addictive, though! I wanna go again

I can't spin my tires anymore... these parada spec-2's need a puddle of water to get them to break loose.

Who is equating it as such?. It was just a comment on the car/tires.

According to car and driver, the 2001 civic EX runs the 1/4 mile at 16.4

With my mods, I am in the high 15's at 88 mph.

Don't feel so bad man... I ran a 17.0 over and over and over again.. And with even a bad launch and stock tires I still got a 17.0. I think some of these civics are just slow... it's a conspiracy!
