VTEC and cheverolet???

I need to settle this arguement between me and my friend. He said that Cheverolet helped Honda developed VTEC or assisted them in some way. I am a Honda fan myself so I told them that was a load of crap but doesn't believe me. Does anyone know if Honda was assisted in anyway in developing VTEC or anything else?

Saab had the first variable valve timing engine in a production car. Everyone stole it from them.

I think Saab is a division of GM, so maybe that's where you're friend tried to tie together Vtec and Chevy. Oh well, all that matters is what Joe said... "Everyone stole it from them" (Though I'm glad they did. BMW's system is AMAZING).

No Chevy doen't use much technology on their engines thats why they have a 770HP 2.2L Inline 4 Cylender Engine FWD Running 8 Seconds in the 1/4 mile.

I Believe that Saab was the first one to come out with variable valve. Saab is a division of GM.

Saab is a division of GM, but wasn't that aquisition recent in the last decade? I think it was, so that correlation doesn't stand to reason...

Speaking of Saab and GM, when I saw the new 9-5 that's coming out at the end of the year, GM's influence was made known in a very sneaky way...the GM logo was branded on the calipers

Hate to say it, but Honda invented VTEC and here's proof!CLICK HERE! As far as variable valve timing in general is concerned, it was invented in 1911 by Arturo Caprotti and used on steam locomotives. CLICK HERE!!

Yes, they recently aquired it. I think it was in 94 or so. I'm not sure of the year. Anyways, it was after 1990 so yeah, GM can suck a d.ck!

Yeah, I work for GM, and Saab was only acquired in the last decade. But at least they're bringing back the GTO . . .

Yes, GM has alot of issues, but according to recent surveys, they've surpassed Nissan in quality!

Honda DID invent VTEC, but not the principle behind it. Just like JoeB16 said, it was SAAB.

(That statement you said was like saying Chevy invented the automobile. They didn't, they just built on an existing principle in their own way.)
