It has air intake temp... that gauge from Autometer is like $300!

Anyway, what does this mean: "Available for 96~ model Honda"

Does that mean 96 on? Or does that mean 96 only.

It's kind of ugly tho.

What is "MAP Sensor (mmHg) "?

What is water temp used for and how does knowing it help you?

More questions. It says:

For HONDA, simply plug in to OBDII diagnostic port, (In order to use CMX-100H, your car must equipped with OBDII diagnostic system)

Is OBDII diagnostic system a stock thing?

On the home page it says (bolds added by me):

Today, automobiles come equipped with a computer, called the Engine Control Unit (ECU). It is through this computer that we are able to optimize performance, increase fuel economy, and maintain cleaner emissions. As the ECUs gain more and more function control, the window of compensation becomes narrower. What this means to you, the enthusiast, is that by simply adding bolt-on aftermarket components (ie. High flow exhaust system, high flow air cleaner, header, etc.) to your car will not give you the maximum performance increase these products were designed for. If you don't "tell" the car what you have changed, the engine will continue to run within the stock parameters. You will most likely detect some power increase, however, the damage being done to the engine may remain undetected. What is sustained in the long term directly defeats the purpose of installing these high performance products and , ultimately, the result could actually be a loss in horsepower, unreliable engine performance, or permanent damage to the engine itself. Simply 'tweaking" the ECU program to your car's specs will spare you those headaches.

Yeah. See that bold part? Don't our computers adjust over time to compensate for any changes we make?

Also, I didn't think this product let you "tweak" stuff. I thought it was just a readout of various systems.

Our is $395. At Mistubishi 3000GT one is $895! Ouch.

map sensor, in mmhg, thats in millimeter's of mercury it is an universal measurement of pressure which can be related to psi. Same philosiphy used in air conditioning, i would know cuz i am an A/C tech.
I assume knowing water temp would help you by overheating. LIke if you run the strip you can measure how hot your engine is running, the hotter then engine the less performance you get, of course you dont want it freezing either.
And the other questions your fugged!

OBD II is an emissions control thing on stock cars, yes.

Your computer cant compensate for everyhintg. an intake is one thing, an intake, header, exhaust, cams and cam gears or a turbo is quite another.

and yes, its 96 and up hondas.

if you knw the water temp you can tell if you are in danger of over heating.

y2k2civic and joe, thanks for the answers

So I guess normal driving doesn't cause too much water heating up? Cuz I've driven for hours with no problems. I guess a lot of racing, redline type driving might be different tho, right?

Or is this something that is really only necessary on FI or heavily modded vehicles? I've seen some older cars with more gauges than us... voltmeter, water temp, oil temp, etc.

Uh... what's that gauge on the left of our vehicles. It's something temperature. Is it oil or water? Haha I'm dumb.
