u bought a civic what do you expect? Learn how to downshift if you need more power, but it's not going to plant you in your seat or anything

If you were "gunning it" you wouldn've been in 5th gear. Downshift, it will help a little.

i disagree. i consider "gunning" it flooring the accelerator. doesnt matter in what gear.

that's what research can do for you. if you did your homework before you bought your civic, then you would have found out that the car is underpowered. what do you expect from an economy car? civic ain't no sports car.

I always find enough power by downshifting. Although I could always use some more. Especially past 65mph.

Downshifting is the only way you are going to get any power for passing or accelerating some while crusing.

I'm getting a winter/rainy day beater when I get back. It'll be a $500 US POS probably. I don't want to spend too much. I saw a 1st gen Talon TSi AWD for $1100 with a blown head gasket in the paper but I'm 3 weeks from going home. Hopefully it will still be available. I can fix that in 2 hours.
