Yeah... we have rod linkage to the tranny. You only have to double clutch with cable linkage.

I hate The Fast and The Furious more and more every day that goes by. Half the kids "into" cars right now would be gone if it wasn't for F&F. Not only that, we'd probably have a lot less attention on us, cops would be nicer to use import owners, and there would be a lot less problems.

You can't, its only for downshifting. I hate people like that, they think they know all this stuff about cars just because of the movie. Double clutching is only for like rally racing or maybe autox but definatly not drag racing.

well, when you know how to double clutch, in theory it will be faster. The benefits of double clutching is smooth shifting and giving your clutch a couple more thousand miles to its life. Slamming it into gear rides the clutch(slips until it engages fully), lost of RPMs(when you RPM's fall when you do not shift into a shift point) which in turns means lost time(you do not acclerate, you actually slow down - reason why you feel it when you slam gears) when the RPMs fall. You loose actual accleration time and most people do not notice this because they do not have racing clutches. For those who choose a never ending path, praise you for having *****.

What exactly is double clutching? I have an auto so I could care less, but some of my friends with Camaros asked me what it meant.

Maybe he didn't mean double clutching as we know it. Maybe he's dumb enough to think that pushing the clutch in, holding the accel. where it is, raising the RPMs and then releasing the clutch is double clutching.

Whatever, some ppl amaze me

Double clutching is when you play basketball and you jump really high into the air, you pump fake a shot twice and relase.

Actually it is quite funny. people all seem to have an idea of what double clutching is...I've been told it is done when downshifting....then I've been told that double clutching is used to gain rpms. Put car into gear, engage clutch, raise RPM's, disengage clutch and you get a burts of torque. *shrug* That seems doable but will kill your clutch in no time....whatever it is, people who dunno exactly what it is shouldn't worry about it, because it doesn't need to be done in normal everyday driving....

True double "clutching" does more harm than good in drag racing... the original and still used purpose is for SEMI-truck drivers... Stupid F&F

Well a few points:

1. many people who say double clutching mean speed shifting.

2. double clutching is gear-clutch-neutral-clutch-gear and is only meant for transmissions without synchro's

3. "double clutching" or pressing the clutch a second time to rev the motor CAN be beneficial if you boged the motor off the line, or were taken by suprise low in the power band...

okay i live by UCLA, and a lot of the people there are ricers. I'm still in high school and most of the people here know much less about cars than i. A guy who worked at best buy saw my "raced up" car and wanted to do that to his hyundai elantra. i was like wtf? AAAAAAAAAAAAH!

i hate fast and the furious for what it's done, not what it is. ITS A MOVIE PEOPLE! people who try and recreate this movie are as dorky as the people who put star wars stickers all over their cars.
power shifting, or shifting without depressing the clutch helps, but is very destructive.

what you want to do is speedshift, which is shifting with the clutch without ever letting the throttle off of the floor.

thats generally what people consider "power shifting" and is exactly what im talking about when i say itll ruin your gearboxs' synchro mesh.
